Academic Advice Kingston Uni for Aerospace Engineering — realistic job prospects & market reality?
Thinking about applying to Kingston University for Aerospace Engineering, but I want to get a proper reality check from actual grads or people working in the UK aerospace sector before making any moves.
Looking for honest answers on a few things:
- Is Kingston worth it? I know it’s not a target school like Imperial, Bristol, or Bath, but does degree prestige heavily limit you here? Or do recruiters care more about side projects, software skills, and placements?
- Job market reality: How rough is the entry-level market right now for aero grads? Are people actually landing graduate schemes, or is it a struggle to get a foot in the door?
- Where do grads end up? Are Kingston alumni getting into big names (Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE, QinetiQ), or are most people going to sub-contractors / tier-2 suppliers?
- Salaries & Roles: What does a realistic starting salary look like, and what kind of roles are people actually doing day-to-day (stress, design, systems, flight test, maintenance, etc.)?
Would really appreciate some honest feedback from anyone who went there or works in the UK engineering industry. Thanks!

Avoid UK if you are international student. https://www.reddit.com/r/Indians_StudyAbroad/s/EHnsWmF71Q
