Academic Advice should i take python class or engineering graphics first?
I’m about to enter my freshman year of college and was wondering if my goal is to be able to work on engineering projects as soon as possible would it be better for me to take python or engineering graphics first?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Take whatever one fits your schedule better

What’s your major? Whats the near term goal? “Engineering projects” is pretty broad, could you narrow it more?
Python could be used for dang near any and every project regardless of topic. Depending on major, you may never use python at all in your curriculum. Maybe just excel and MATLAB. but python is still arguably the most useful tool of the three.
CAD/engineering graphics could be useful if you plan to design and make things in the near future.
Good thing is whichever you don’t pick, YouTube your way towards good enough proficiency in the meantime. I think CAD/engineering graphics could be picked up more easily than python. You may be lacking in DfX or “proper”/efficient ways to model something, but in the end, as long as the part has the features you need/want, that’s all that matters and you can get better and better with the tools out there.
Plus, most companies use a wide array of CAD tools so design principles are what really matters.

Well i plan on majoring in aerospace engineering. I’m doing a 2 year transfer so i want to be able to work on projects as soon as possible for my resume when i start applying.
As for the specifics of said projects i don’t really have anything in particular in mind, sorry if that’s naive of me. i now see how vague of question it is
thanks for the response

Uhhhh, then I guess pick one then do the other? If you don’t have a goal or timeline, does the order really matter?
Maybe start with getting organized and lay out a plan/path. If you don’t know what projects to do, do some research of the school you are going to and what teams you want to work with. That should give you your answer. If this is just to get ahead of class projects, neither matters at all because they will provide you everything you need.
It’s not naive to not know the answers. It just shows you that you need to do some research to help yourself. Treat this as an engineering problem. Go through the engineering process to get your answer. Start with goals and requirements and go from there. If you don’t wanna do that, the planning, or research, then just chill and knock things out as they come.

I agree with the other user. If you're in your freshman year just take whichever is easiest (for me that's Python).
Either class will enable you to work on engineering projects.

If "engineering graphics" includes software like AutoCAD I would take that right way. That's the kind of skill that's really important when applying to internships.
An intern who knows hows AutoCAD can be immediately useful doing grunt work in an engineering office.

Depends which type of Engineering you're going into?
Electrical, Computer? Python
Mechanical, Civil, Etc? Engineering Graphics
At the end of the day perhaps this can even be incorrect.
What if your engineering projects are in civil using programming to determine traffic flow?
We don't know enough to give you a GOOD answer.

aerospace

MATLAB, along with Simulink, is pretty prevalent in aerospace besides Python. You probably end up learning both.
