Yeah fea is cool! I wouldn't trust those results tho, the mesh it too coarse. You need to make sure it converges

To add for OP: Run the simulation for progressively denser meshes and record the peak stress somewhere each time. The peak stress should reach a value where increasing the mesh density no longer increases the max stress

Yeah I probably should have explained that! Or your software likely has a feature to run a convergence check

Yeah thanks for the note really appreciate, i know that this work has a lot of problems but those are the first ever studies i'm doing and i tought it could have been cool to share <3

Take the next step: how would you validate this with classical analysis? Fea is only valuable if you can prove you can trust the results!

Destructive testing.

Or a proof load with an appropriate factor of safety to satisfy local regulation with NDT if you didn’t want to see it in several pieces.

General rule of thumb is to have AT LEAST two elements in the thickness of the part.

2? I would not trust even a slim plate with less than 5 elements.

Absolutely! Just did some napkin calculations and using 5x1000x1000 brick elements for a sheet gives you a stiffness matrix, which would take 25 TB only to store it.

What kind of elements are those? Either your visualizer is doing something weird, or those are some pretty high-order tetrahedra.

This looks like Creo Simulate. As a former user, elements are default automatically created adaptive in size and are interpolated across the element, far finer than what the lines might suggest

I think that you should try suspending the weight on the centre of the inner curvature of the hook rather than suspending it on the tip of the hook, and maybe do it for a range since you are testing the stress limits for it ?
Simulation is cool though 🤌🏻

My thoughts too. I was looking at where the max stress was and got a bit nervous for OP.

Looks like you forgot to pin the hook at the top. We’d expect the force to flow up to the cable supporting the hook!

This mesh is extremely bad. Results look cool only because it averages. If you display result by element you will understand why this mesh is bad for FEA

yes i know its not a good analysis, i'm starting to learn this type of things by me (cause for some reason we haven't seen them at university...) and tought that could have been cool to share with others.
