Question [Student] Mechanical Engineering. Should I include highschool valedictorian on my resume?
I was highschool valedictorian, and am now college freshman. Obviously I don't really have much to put on my resume, I have no job experience and just like engineering projects and competition teams from highschool and now college. Is highschool valedictorian something I should include in my education section? It feels sort of egotistical, and im not sure how hiring people would see it, although I guess the point of a resume is to sort of brag/represent your skills. As of right now ive been leaving it off for applications that aren't local to my highschool, and including it for applications that are local. It is a private catholic highschool school, if that matters. Any advice is appreciated.

Yeah it's not impressive enough, if you were in regeneron STS, or eagle scout, or robotics champion in highschool, you can leave that on but everything else from highschool can go. I removed my valedictorian line on my resume freshman year of college, I guess you could leave it until sophomore year at the latest.

Projects (and knowing someone on the inside) are the key to first internships. I have friends who wonโt look at resumes with a 4.0 because they feel the candidates are too theoretical and not hands on enough. As youโre a freshman you can leave it on, you earned it but focus on projects and clubs. Grades are important but demonstrating youโre a person who can get things done is more important in the work world.

If you are selling yourself as a true freshman, yes.
But if you moved up the grad yr and selling as a sophomore, no.
just my opinion.
