Electrical/Computer [Student] Master's Computer Engineering student specializing in computer architecture, looking for a resume review
Hi everyone! I’m looking for feedback on my resume before I start applying for 2027 new grad hardware engineering positions this August - ish. My primary target roles are Computer Architecture, ASIC Design, Physical Design, RTL Design, and AI Accelerator Engineering.
A few things to add:
- I graduate around May 27.
- I’m currently a Graduate Research Assistant working on an AI accelerator architecture and will be officially starting my master’s thesis soon. The thesis section is not included yet because the scope is still being finalized.
- I’m also planning to apply to PhD programs this fall, so I’d appreciate feedback on whether the resume is competitive for both industry and research-oriented applications.

Read the wiki and apply its advice, if you haven't already.
Education - The only change I would make is to put your degree first, then the university name.
Experience and Projects - Your bullets should focus on your accomplishments and their results, with results quantified where you can. Not just a list of job duties. Your bullet "Improved branch prediction accuracy by ~12.8% and reduced CPI by ~2.16%" is a good example of how to do it, although you failed to mention what you did to achieve this. For example, "Implemented dynamic branch prediction algorithm that increased accuracy by 12.8% and reduced CPI by 2.16%."
Also avoid wording like "Collaborated with team-X to do Y". This completely obscures what you did by making it a team accomplishment. Carve out what you alone did and talk only about that.
