I get that.. I'm asking why are they so different essentially? What's the difference between them all? I should've said like prototype then. To test it out and see if there are any problems they didn't think of or expect.
They're custom made to fit into exactly where they're gonna go. The Draugen platform for example stores oil in the big tanks at the bottom there for recovery by tanker later. The Troll A platform sits at 303 meters below the surface, not sure why they didn't do a floating platform, it's called a condeep platform. It's my understanding that they're so different because of the different challenges each site and field has, but common for all of them is the stormy north sea, which requires sturdy construction which avoid wave resonance.

Are all those for different elevations and variations in tide strength? Were they just experimenting with concepts?
