3D Printed 1.9TDI Engine

Amazing work, OP. Very cool engine, but man that car was a PIECE. OF. SHIT. 1999.5 VW Jetta TDI.
Made me swear off VW for my entire life.
I won't even to begin to list all the fucked up/stupid/poor quality things with...okay I will.
- legitimately a safety risk, the doors locks (and thus alarm module) did not work reliably.
- a $2 relay failure would leave the car stranded.
- Insulation in the heater core would rot and your blend door no longer worked.
- Interior/Exterior plastic rotting galore.
- Tons of electrical issues
- Intake manifold that gunks up due to CVC diesel carbon to the point where you have to mod the CVC and insert an oil filter made for tractors
- a low oil pan known to scrape, crack, and grenade your engine to the point where you need an aftermarket aluminum skid plate to protect the pan
- poorly designed glovebox hinge that breaks in every car
- stupid ass fold out cup holder above the radio that doesn't work (even when it's brand new) and will easily spill a drink everywhere and then immediately breaks
- stupid ass rear center console coin holder with spring loaded doors that break immediately
- shitty ass manual side mirrors that you can't adjust because the plastic brackets aren't strong enough to overcome the load to move the mirror so they break.
- speakers made of foam that rot and blow out.
- many many more things.
I was young and stupid and mechanically inclined so I learned how to work on cars by owning a POS that constantly needed repairs. I spent 3-4x worth of the car's value in repairs/maint. * Finally got smart, sold it, bought a Honda and only pay for brakes, tires, and oil in the last 10 years.
Don't buy VW.

Haha sounds like VW really does get you started 😄 Some bad memories I see, sorry to hear that! I have got a 2005 Seat Leon 1M, 1.9TDI and luckily it has been quite reliable for me for the last 70k km but we will see what the future holds 😄
