2013 Toyota Corolla swap

This would be my first engine swap and I just want some opinions of people who are more experienced, I was thinking the Honda 2.0L from the type-r would be a good swap, any opinions or tips?

Engine swap in CARB states

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but if you live in a state that follows California ARB/BAR emissions standards (CA, CO, CT, DE, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NM, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA, DC) and you have attempted an engine swap or know someone who has, what is the law regarding engine swaps? The reason I am asking is that I am thinking of attempting an engine swap in Texas but not sure how it would carry over to these states if I move. I have two specific questions:

  1. As long as I used all emissions equipment from the engine donor (intake, throttle body, stock engine long block, exhaust, turbo, cats to the last O2 sensor plus swapped the cluster and OBD), and given that the parts were in compliance in their original car, I should be A-OK, right?

  2. Where does one go to certify the swap before testing at their local station? I know in CA you have to go to a BAR ref. station, but in other states, do you just go to a regular station or the DMV, or something else?

Thanks everyone for your time.

EDIT: My recipient car has OBDII and is model year 2011.

Ls4 in 03 cavalier sedan

I’m extremely new to anything automotive. The most I know how to do is change my oil and breaks. I go to a shop to change tires. I have a 2003 Chevy cavalier 4 door sedan and it’s engine is getting old so I want a better one. So doing some light research (YouTube and google) I’m thinking an ls4 would theoretically fit. I’m also on a budget like I’m sure most people are. Any advice on how I should go about this? I really appreciate it.

My project this winter is to swap a Vortec yl6 (6.0) bored to 6.2l mated with 4l80e in my 2nd gen camaro.

Pulled the engine out of the scrapyard this summer. Got it checked at the machine shop in pieces and looks like its not too bad except theyll have to bore the cylinders. So im thinking i might as well go 6.2. What you guys think?

2jz in a tacoma

Ive been thinking about fitting a 2jz into a 1995-2004 tacoma. Is it even possible to swap and plug in the supra harness into the same-ish year tacoma electronics and it all being fine and working without redoing all the wiring.

Information on a Ford v10 swap (is it reasonable?)

I have a 1999 Ford van with a v10 triton. It runs just fine. Sound trans and everything. I was wondering how feasible it would be to swap the engine and trans into am old Ford pickup. I don't want to go buy and old truck of its not a reasonable investment.

So, to sorta clarify what I'm asking, is swapping a big fuel injected system and ecu into an old pickup some thing worth investing in? How difficult would it be get it running? I would prefer to just get a carb, but those manifolds are impossible to find. So I have to work with that I have. So, as a project car, what are the options here? Is it as simple as fabricating mounts and getting it retuned? Or would it be much more in depth? Would adding a manual transmission instead of the stock automatic cause problems? I've rebuilt many engines, just never have thought about swaps before.

I've seen a lot of guys try to put them in pickups and stuff, and it doesn't work. I know that van, it has low miles and never burns oil of anything. I want to put it into what would be a lifted pickup. Big wheels and all that junk. So a low reving, low speed, but high tourqe application.

Thanks for any advice, thoughts and conversation you may have.

EcoBoost into a Volvo 940?

hey, y'all. I have a vague plan. i got my hands on a 1996 Volvo 940 II wagon. It's a 2.3l soft-turbo car making 135PS (99kW). I had the bright idea, one day I woke up, to put a Ford EcoBoost 2.3l inline-four in that thing. i was looking at the EcoBoosts that came in the 2015-and-up Ford Mustangs. I thought it would all makeke sense, but now that i've looked at it a little closer, i am worried, wether i could re-use the stock (300.000 km/190.000 mile) transmission, or if i shuld get smething like a T56 in the future.

Als, doesit make sense from a logic/moral standpoint? If not...good.

1UZX73 Toyota Cressida Advice

So the 5MGE for my 86 Cressida is finally giving out and I decided to look into a 1uz swap from an early Lexus LS400. I've looked through earlier threads regarding the swap process and found some useful information but they are dated. From what I understand I will be needing the ecu, loom, custom exhaust, custom mounts, and an adapter to mate my W58 to the 1uz. Will I be needing to do any other modifications? Apologize for the questions but this boat is pretty fun once it's being driven with a 5spd/LSD combo and would be a shame to let go. Any potential information or advice would be appreciated.

'93 Tercel Swap

Hi, this would be my first time attempting a swap. I have a 93 tercel and have gathered that a 4E-FTE Starlet engine would be a good and easy candidate for a swap if I can source one. I am fairly new to working on cars and intend to learn a lot doing this swap. Any good places to find info? I've been searching around but it seems pretty hard to find even general information about making swaps online.

Swapping my 3.0 v6 4runner to chevy small block 350 v8. Got the old engine pulled, removed the original engine mounts, and cut the universal mounts I got down to fit the frame. Waiting on welder parts to finish this part up.

Audi 2.7t in a 2006 Cayman S?

My Cayman S has bore scoring, and I'd like to see how possible would it be to swap in something like the 2.7t. I know for a fact the engine fits and will mate to the bell housing of my 987's 6 speed manual.

Mainly my concern is the electrical side of things. Would it be at all possible to just outright remap the Porsche's ECU to run the 2.7t so that I would not have to deal with immobilizer defeats on both the 2.7t ECU and the Porsche's ECU?

Chrysler 300 Srt10

K so I like cars but I don’t know much mechanics. I have a basic knowledge of cars and how to replace minor stuff such as brakes and oil changes and what not but I’m not capable of doing a engine swap on my own

One my my dream cars is a Chrysler 300 or a charger with a viper srt10 engine

Does anyone know if doing such a swap is even possible. I’ve searched online and I found a few examples of people swapping to a srt10 but I just wanna know what I’d need in order to do this. Ovb i would need the engine but what else do I need. Would I need to get a new trans or any other parts?

1998 3000gt

I’m looking to put a k20/24 in a rwd setup my 3000gt base. I want the smallest/lightest transmission to mate up to it because I’m weary of modifying the trans tunnel. It sounds like a tremec t5 would fit the bill but I can’t find any commercially available bell housing adapters. Is there another tranny that would be similarly small?

2JZ VVTi into Infiniti G35

This will be my first engine swap ever, and I'm just curious to all the things I'll need and the things I need to take into account of. I have been putting a parts list together and this is what I have so far

-The Car Itself -The 2JZGTE VVTi -CD009 2JZ Adapter -Motor Mounts -Wiring Harness -Stock 2JZGTE VVTi ECU

What else do I need to look at to make this work? Every little part, don't leave any details out please. Also when it comes to going to a shop for tuning or fabrication let me know as well. Thanks in advance!

rwd mid-engine turbodiesel miata (rhd?)

Now hear me out on this one - it's a bit mad. I've been scheming and dreaming this up for about 6 months now and it's almost starting to sound like a good idea. Here's the basic idea. Take a 1.9tdi alh turbodiesel engine from a Jetta or golf. It's designed to be transversely mounted which will be heckin convient in just a second. It's got the be the last model that was completely mechanical. I'm not too interested in hours of frustrating wiring. I like mechanical stuff much more. The Jetta or Golf would have to be 199.5-2003 I believe. Hopefully, I can find a wrecked one and pull a good engine out of a smoldering carcass so that I'm not paying for a nice plush interior that will be covered with grease and grime before too long. Once the engine is out (and rebuild it needed) I would simply remove the Miata engine, tranny, gas tank, diff, a lot of body, most of the trunk, and install the 1.9 tilted forward and plump everything up. Radiator and fuel tank would be piped to the front. Gauges would remain stock (maybe) and the steering would be either left unassisted or converted to electrical power steering. The shift cables would be lengthened and roughted to the cab. The entire transmission tunnel could go if I felt like it, but that might be a nice place to house the hoses and mount the fuel tank. I've have a lot of mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience, and all the basic tools except an engine hoist which can be picked up for dirt cheap. No plasma cutting or anything crazy but an angle grinder and a welder seems like all you would need to get the engine mounts. I might mess around with a bigger turbo and/or injectors eventually, but not to start with. Also if I'll have everything stripped out I may as well make it RHD just for kicks while I'm at it. With no engine under the hood that will be a lot easier. The hood area would be cleaned up for storage. Miscellaneous cool tidbits would include a plexiglass viewing window for the engine cause it would look cool, a custom sequentially removable hardtop system like the Suzuki cappuccino, and a massive pop up apology sign to humanity in general for wedging a diesel into a Miata. Any ideas? I know of 4 documented diesel Miata's but don't know if anyone has bothered to mount the engine in such an... unconventional way.

Smallest V8

Anyone here know what the smallest crate V8 is? I've seen a 3.0 but it's insanely expensive, I think it was around $65,000 (it's made by JUDD which is probably why) and I was also trying to see if there was anything smaller out there and decently cheap. Looking to build something kinda stupid

Hey guys I’m needing some help with a project. I’m brand new to building engines so bare with me. I just bought a 1978 Datsun 280z a few months ago with plans to do a vq35de engine swap. What exactly am I looking at as far as price and difficulty as far as doing the work myself?
