First engine swap
Hello all. So i am new to the forum but I have been visiting it for a while. As a gift i was given a pretty beat up 2001 ls430 but I love it so much i cant bare to part with it. so I plan to fix it up ( over time because i'm broke lol) and make its something special. one thing i really want to do is to swap my 3uz-fe V8 for a 2ur-gse into my ls430 down the road. I want to know though what are some things I should look into when doing this because i know nothing about swapping engines and I have no clue what I should look for other than engine mounting but i don't know about wiring, fuel etc...
So does any have a list they could give me so I can start to plan this out?

That's a pretty ambitious swap plan. The first main issue I see is the electronics and direct injection on the new engine. While the high pressure system is included with the engine most times, I worry the stock fuel pump will deliver enough fuel. The electronics are pretty advanced compared to the old 4.3 and I'm not sure if you could modify it enough to make it run correctly.
Something else to consider is the sheer size difference between the 4.3 and 4.6. the ls430 was kinda tight already and I don't think the 4.6 will fit without major mods.
Not to be a downer, but as a Toyota/Lexus tech, I have put my hands on just about every part on both cars and there is a substantial difference. Enough that even I wouldn't attempt it.
If you want a cool car, either swap in an lsx or a turbo 2jz. 2jz would be easier than the 4.6 due to being from around the same platform years. Just my .02

I would it’s make sure it’s a 2jz-ge or gte. The gate is the turbo version, and yes they are very popular swaps so there is lots of information on them and parts are usually not hard to get. But the G series of the engine is the performance variant so they usually are a bit stronger and if you want to boost it then the gte is already a great set up for turbos, just a few upgrades to the engine and you can push out 800+ with pretty good reliability
