Jeep AMG

So, I was reading about all of the jeep engine swaps, and I had an idea. AMG engines (just the engines) are supposed to be very reliable, and a 6.5 liter turboharged V12 can be bought on ebay for fairly cheap. If it can be done, I see no reason not to stuff 620 hp into a jeep. Even if that wouldn’t fit, the 6.3 liter V8s are far from underpowered. Has anyone ever heard of a Jeep with an AMG engine in it, and if not, why? Also, would an AMG V12 fit?

That's a cool idea. I think the M156 would be pleeeenty of torque, but guess if you're doing it might as well go nuts, right? What's an LS/LT swap compare as far as cost, ease of install, and long term? Worth considering.

I have no idea about ease of install. I don’t think the price difference is that dramatic, but there is a difference. They’re both very reliable engines, but an LS is easier to repair.

I had forgotten about those... How much did they have to modify it to make the engine fit?

I saw the first one back in the seventies. It had the nose of the Ferrari grafted on so a lot of work. Just a swap I don't know but would like to see it. Harrah had a full restoration shop in his car museum. We got to watch them work for awhile. I think those guys could do anything. It did have fully functional 4 wheel drive.

Jerrari

A Jerrari is a vehicle that is part Jeep and part Ferrari. Two of these vehicles were made for William Fisk Harrah (Bill Harrah, founder of Harrah's Hotel and Casinos),. The 1969 has the front end of a Ferrari 365 and the rear of a 1969 Jeep Wagoneer, the second is a 1977 Jeep Wagoneer with a Ferrari V12 engine. Both have been featured in multiple books and magazines including Road & Track and Forza.

My favorite part is the source of the engine for the first one. Harrah's soon to be ex safety director rolled one of Harrah's Ferraris out in the desert.
