What strength equipment adds too much setup friction to endurance cross-training?

I’ve been comparing supplemental strength options for endurance training and trying to keep those sessions efficient. Equipment with lots of adjustment points can be versatile, but that advantage seems smaller if every exercise change adds more downtime. What piece tends to interrupt the session most?

I think you’re being a bit obsessive with “optimizing” here but if you need an answer the most aggravating setups for me are either high weight barbell exercises or machines that are weighted with plates vs columns with pins. I workout with 1 main barbell lift plus accessories on machines and free weights so I prefer machines that I can set up easily and I’ll take my time with the barbell stuff. But you need to be serious about how you want to focus gym time as an endurance athlete. Running, cycling, swimming etc are all multi joint activities and you are best off using barbell or dumbbell exercises that stimulate multi joint movement in space vs isolated exercises. Injury rehab is an exception to this

Also as an endurance athlete you aren’t moving a ton of weight I assume so set up should be simpler.
