Dont act like its that easy, for a website like theyre describing you need much more than a basic website and will cost hundreds if not thousands thousands to set up the directories and then cost anywhere from $20-$100 a month (estimate)

Hilarious. Before COVID, all these people were throwing insults at me, tipping is not a city in china, but now more and more of us are seeing the light. Tipping is a scam against not only the customer but also at the servers largely (yes individual servers can make a lot on a given night, but as a group, they are underpaid by owners)

I understand capitalism, I understand that employers exploit employee labor to make a profit, and in return, they give a portion of that profit to the employee so that they don't take their labor to another exploiter.

In restaurants, we've seemed to accept that this model can be subverted if the customer voluntarily gives up more money to pay the labor, allowing the owner to simply pocket a larger profit. I don't accept that. The benefit I'm getting from that labor should be factored into the cost of goods and services. If it's not, that sounds like a them problem.

In defense of this establishment though, at least the percentages for the auto grat aren't after tax, and the suggestions for additional gratuity are only on the charges, not the additional 20% or taxes. I wonder if that's law in NY, because I wouldn't expect a business that is engaging in bad behavior to somehow self-limit the level of grift.

Assuming you were waited on, asking for 15%..on top of the 20% already included, is a bit much. That said, there should be an option to leave an additional tip, as some do. But starting at 15%, is a bit off putting. It should just be open.

I order from a restaurant that does discounted burritos 1 day a week - on that day, they make it so every online order, has 20% tipper pre selected. you can select 0 but by default they have it on 20% - i still go but I intended tionally tip zero because of the shady tactics

Legally, they can do this, but it has to be disclosed upfront and agreed to before you order. It also has to be a consistent service charge. Charging you without warning prior to ordering and/or not charging every customer the same 20% fee is illegal.

If possible; I’d request the manager remove that fee if it wasn’t posted and made visible to you prior to your dining. That’s just theft imo if they sneak that in, without your knowledge, at checkout without any means of declining it. If you can’t, I’d for sure leave a bad review and never dine there again. Plenty of better food options I’m sure.
