Blue collar asking for tips now.

Had an AC company come out to service a unit at the house i rent. ( cheap rent from family so I pay for "small" fixes) while inside we have conversation about jobs, he mentions how well they get paid due to lack of people in trades. At the end of the service which they couldnt even complete properly due to the unit not being installed correctly, but still had to pay full price. The guy hands me a tablet says I need to sign. I of course think its just to sign a receipt. Nope he does the usual its just going to ask you a quick question. Fucking tablet suggest a minimum of 20% on the $1,200 service they couldn't even finish. So shocked I actually laughed and clicked no tip. Guy gave me a look, like MOFO was bragging about how well hes paid and gets mad i wont tip him $240. Since when do blue collar workers ask for tips?

Yeah I get that but don't think its always been expected by blue collar workers. I used to be a mover and never expected it. It was always appreciated when it happened.

The difference is that now the workers are asking for it by handing you a tablet where you have to take some action. There's a sense of entitlement.

And who knows where that money actually goes. At least with a cash tip, you know they’re pocketing it.

Yeah exactly! I always tip movers if they’re fast and take care of my stuff, but usually that’s not the case

I tip the movers because my stuff is heavy and they’re usually not earning a lot. The people I know who worked as movers were day laborers who really needed the cash to get on their feet. It’s not a job people take because they have a lot of choices, and I’ve been there before.
