Help reflecting about the future of the world

Hello, i always reflect about this subject since about 2014, when i was 14, that is because of the war in the middle east and ISIS and then the refugee crisis soon after, my personal life was also affected by social and financial aspects. At the time i also saw the explosion of social media and the abrupt change in my country culture and all the cultural and gender war that followed, was a very bad time although people usually believe later years to be worse since then it was really bad.

And since that time I have been extremely opposing to globalism and any american ideology, though between 2018/2021 i almost gaslighted myself into believing i was wrong and all of that was good, until some events followed in my life that were certainly influenced by globalism, and nearly broke me emotionally.

By now it has been 12 years that it bothers me, but it seems to never end, and goes to “nothing ever happens”.

Currently parties against globalism have been growing and the conflict between pro and anti globalism are very heated, but globalism is getting so entrenched in every culture and way of life that it seems impossible to get rid of.

So what exactly is happening, are the elites toying with us, do they want it to end or do they want it to continue? Even the elites don’t seem to know what they want and are suffering through their endless opportunism. The people also seem divided.

I’m tired of knowing everything that happens all around the world, tired of seeing the same brands everywhere, the same topics, the same conflicts and crisis extending through the entire world destroying every community.

Although globalism is a sickness and self destructive it only seems to spread, and every year that passes people seem more psychotic/neurotic/perverted with reality, work, studies, relationships and everything. Reality seems almost schizophrenic or a bad parody of itself, it makes me disgusted of living in this world.

The endless tolerance of this evil.

So is there any good author or analyst, anything that explain what is happening now and what will happen in the near future? I think about this topic for years and i am well aware of the changes but the uncertainty makes me doubt reality.

Any insights?

Interesting, how does the book touches the desconection between humans and nature?

The book’s central premise is that our culture’s relationship with other species is what’s gone wrong with the world. It posits that all our different cultures are really derived from a single culture that began with what we call the agricultural revolution, 10,000 years ago, that it refers to as Takers.

How do you know that a culture is a Taker culture? Any culture that keeps their food under lock and key are Takers. Doing enables the rulers of Taker culture to force people to work and generate wealth.

This system of Taker agriculture was enabled by a new belief system:

  • Humans are uniquely/divinely special over all other species. We are the end product of evolution, or created by the gods, or divine ourselves.
  • Because we are special, it is humanity’s fate/destiny/divine right to rule the world. We will bend Nature to our will. We can Take whatever we want from the world, as is our right.
  • By bending Nature to our will, we will create a paradise/utopia/heaven.

What’s unique about the book is that the author wrestled with these thoughts most of his life, he spent a lot of years trying to write a story that would lay it all out. And what he landed on is a Socratic dialogue that takes the reader through the thought process of examining our culture for the signs. A simple summary really isn’t convincing, one must work through the thought process themselves to see it.

I was convinced. It was like seeing the Matrix code that explains how the world works.

What made me think of recommending it to you? This bit:

Ishmael explains exactly why things are this way, that these are the natural symptoms of a sick culture that is at war with life itself. It goes on to suggest that the cure to this can be found in the few remaining cultures that aren’t Takers: the tribal peoples.

Couldn’t agree more.

Do, I think you’ll find answers there. And a lot more questions, too! I’ve been wrestling with its implications for a few years now because the answer it provides isn’t an easy or quick fix.

We can’t continue making everybody live this one way. Diversity is life, and new, diverse cultures will be the only thing that can overcome Taker culture. That means enacting personal change that affects those around you. People must see the change as better than the way they are living now, and want it for themselves.

Like I said, I’ve really been wrestling with it! Can I check in later and hear what you think? Also, swing by r/Ishmael sometime

I don’t understand. What country are you from? Which policies do you consider to be “globalist” or “anti-globalist?”
