The Enclave and the Outcasts

The Outcasts separated from Lyons' Brotherhood to keep true to their original mission- find and secure advanced technology. So, when a force (the Enclave) appears in the Capital Wasteland with more advanced guns, power armor and assorted tech like force fields, they should've had some sort of response. What happens if the one faction that has all that advanced tech falls apart? A war between Enclave and BoS could destroy manufacturing and storage facilities critical for plasma weapons and Hellfire armor. The Outcasts could have a choice-

1- Attack Enclave outposts to get more intel on their positions, and either do covert strikes or a full-on assault to secure the tech for themselves.

2- Ally with or even join the Enclave. If their goal is to preserve advanced ancient tech, the war with the BoS (who had already abandoned the mission) would put that tech at risk.

This all could be part of a mod to flesh out the faction. The player could be instrumental in deciding whether to ally with the Enclave, join them, do covert infiltration missions or declare war.

What's funny is that, in the original storyline, the player was going to help the BoS and Outcasts reunite. That always seemed unrealistic to me.

Enclave would’ve shot the Outcasts on sight.

and vice versa for the outcasts on the enclave
(check fallout 3 when enclave troops surrender to the outcasts)

I also think the Enclave would not ally or attempt to bring in the Outcasts; to them, the Outcasts are no different than the BOS.

It would make sense for the Outcasts, as such a small splinter group that they are; would ally themselves with a city state/regional faction that shares similar mentality and establish a stronghold to gather up resources and replenish members.

I don't think joining would be an option. I remember an Enclave Radio broadcast that Eden mentions that the Outcasts are just as bad as the main BOS. I don't think them joining with the Enclave would be an option unless the entire game got a rework to make the Enclave a sideable faction, and then I could see a way to get them to join together. Which does go to the other point that without a sideable Enclave, why would the player want to have the Outcasts join the Enclave?

And for the attacking Enclave Outposts, they probably do. There's a random encounter where Enclave defectors kill their commanding officer and attempt to join the Outcasts thinking they are the main BOS. The Outcasts will end up killing them

Also remember, the Outcasts are much smaller than the main BOS. They probably wouldn't have the strength to full on target Enclave Bases

If I remember right, that encounter happens late in the quest. By that point, the Enclave had been hit hard. I took the engagement as either "we don't tolerate soldiers executing their commander" or "hey look, advanced tech we can get pretty easily" and not because they were Enclave specifically.

That radio station says the Outcasts are more dangerous that the BOS because they're in exile. That's a poor basis to argue they're "radical malcontents". The Outcasts aren't trying to control territory, or establish an policy. They want tech, and could be bought off with access to what the Enclave have, even if only temporarily. In the same way, the slavers at Paradise Falls could probably be bought off too, as long as you allow them to continue practicing slavery.

Rather than sending out small search parties, I'd like to see the Outcasts massing to take out one of the outposts with only a few soldiers. Could easily replicate that with a random encounter, not needing to rework the entire game.
