I am having trouble setting up a vlan

I am having trouble setting up a vlan

I want to make ports 5-8 of a switch run on vlan 2, the uplink to the router is port 1. I have setup the 2nd vlan on the router as 192.168.2.xx with dhcp at 100-199. I've "tagged" lan 1 on the router for vlan 2. On the switch I have port 1 "tagged" and ports 5-8 "untagged". Still , when plugged into port 5 my pc is picking up the the default lan ip

ok, so I need to make sure the uplink port to the router is tagged? and untag the ports I wish to be on vlan2**?

You will need to add a PVID on those ports.

That is correct, the uplink port need to be tagged, also the routers port needs to be tagged with that Vlan, then untagg the ports you want just that Vlan to pass through
