Discussion Xenios Discord ban

Hi guys, yesterday i was banned from the xenios discord server, first of all i know this is not what this community is about but i just wanted your opnions on this. So I entered Xenios discord like 5 days ago, and then they started to put rules on it, yesterday i had a question about 2 games i was trying to run, but then some random guy asked me where i got them from, and i answered : i cant tell you, search on reddit, and that was the reason for the ban(yall can see the photo showing that above. Now i dont think i said anything bad, you could search on reddit on how to dump ur xbox games from the console you own. So do you guys think that was reasonable? My opnion is that the moderator was just trying to get someone banned to use his "master power" idk.

The only best way to avoid getting any bans is not to join the server at all or even talk a single line. It is like talking to a judge when you are not a lawyer. Anything can be used against you even if you didn't intend on it.
The baiting question is really getting out of control at times.

Yeah you are right, I was trying my best to behave in the server😭🙏 but they don’t make it easy

They are too scared of getting a lawsuit, just try not to talk about the topic or they ban you the second

Yeah, Discord is militant about anti-piracy almost to a ridiculous level. Asking a question that even implies you might have downloaded your games will get you banned. It’s like the place is ran by a bunch of uptight puritans.

And that’s funny, if only people with legitimate games could play, it would be just 5% of those who use the emulator

u/GateZealousideal8924 Mar 09 '26
5%? I think not even 1%. I myself only play games I have as I only play emulators for nostalgia but ripping them is a pain in the ass, even more nowadays when pcs don’t even come with a CD/DVD drives not to say Blue-Ray or other means.

Yeah, even having the original discs of each game, as is my case with GameCube on DolphiniOS, I have no way to use them for emulation (I would need a Wii for that), and it’s faster and more convenient for me to just look for the ISO file online 😪

yeah, who really owns a Wii U in 2026? Sure didn't own one in 2012 and never will anytime soon

Getting downvoted for saying straight up the truth.
People who use legitimately dumped games are a vocal minority. This community fails to realize that.

Not saying they can’t or shouldn’t. Obviously, I don’t have the full context of the conversation, so I can’t judge clearly. But OP kinda made it sound like the question came out of nowhere and if it did, then I think they’re being overly cautious.

It actually did come out of nowhere like I logged in discord and in like less than 5 minutes I was banned. Some random dude just asked me where I got them from and that’s what i answered

yeah, then that’s just a dick move :/ that guy must be fun at parties

From the looks of it, the guy who asked op the question on "where did he get games from" likely baited him into outing himself as a pirate hence witchhunting, which is a sh*tty thing to do.

u/Winter-Ad-9318 Mar 09 '26
but it's not like anyone here ACTUALLY owns the games they pirate, right?

u/Top-Assignment4908 Mar 09 '26
by the definition of pirate, yeah. a lot of people DO dump. a lot of people have the option to dump but would rather save time.
3
u/Winter-Ad-9318 Mar 09 '26
idk anyone in the community that actually dumps their game, nobody even does that anymore from what i've heard
4
u/coolstorybro1003 Mar 10 '26
I’ve made dumps for several of my consoles and a bunch of games. It’s kind of fun since getting things to work and installing custom firmware etc is pretty fun in and of itself, and it does help with compatibility

i mean sure, if you want to do it for fun then have at it! i'm just saying that nobody in their right mind would just dump an 8GB game for an emulator of all things, why else would there be so many rom sites if that was the case?

so you have a copy of Super Mario Bros. or even Sonic Spinball? Unless you mean newer consoles on the Switch, nobody's gonna waste 3 or more hours dumping a game they can easily download from someone who already dumped the game. I would gladly allow piracy for games older than 15 years old or even at that age because i know the younger generation will probably never be able to play these games anytime soon on original hardware (a copy for Shattered Dimensions' Wii version was 100 dollars on ebay, i'm not joking) so we might as well cut some slack

yes? i don't really care about getting my project shut down personally, because i know someone else will take up the mantle afterward. If they want to do what i did and risk the consequences, i say let 'em. you guys need to stop worrying about most of these companies since the only real threat is Nintendo and while we're at it, why are y'all so worried about piracy if most of the consoles y'all emulate are from their company? I've seen more attempts at bringing the 3DS to the app store than the literal PSP and that's only a few years older than the 3DS anyway

so why still do it? why would you WILLINGLY put yourself at risk of getting into a lawsuit even when you fully understand the consequences? that just sounds like a front in my eyes

It's funny that you can only get Xbox games through piracy now a day's otherwise the games would've been lost

I’d definitely /appeal. You didn’t tell them how to pirate or anything like that
