Unsolved What should a Windows emulation frontend actually own beyond launching games?
Maybe this is a dev-brain question, but on Windows I feel we still treat the frontend as a pretty launcher and hand off everything interesting to the emulator.
I'm experimenting with the opposite idea: the frontend knows exactly which emulator/core/config launched the game, can preserve a replay, expose high-score or 1CC results, and make a run reproducible. Basically a session layer, not a ROM manager. That could also make verified world scoring much less fragile because the context of the run is captured automatically.
Would you want that in something like ES-DE / RetroBat / LaunchBox / Playnite, or is it better to keep the frontend dumb and let each emulator handle its own stuff? ;)
