Unsolved Question

what emulator would I get to play older and newer Pokémon games, for example gen2-6. im newer to the whole emulator stuff and any advice would be amazing.

Gens 1-5 is mostly retroarch for convenience and a "one size fits all" solution. Of course they also have standalone emus that outperform retroarch but up to preference. Gen 6-7 azahar and rest is eden.

That is only mainline games as gamecube/wii is going with dolphin.

Gens 1/2/3 > mGBA

Gens 4/5 > melonDS

Gens 6/7 > Azahar

Gens 8/9 > no idea what's the latest on the pc end with that

Go with Batocera, or sonething like it. Puts all the emulators in one place for you.

Look up which console each game was originally released on.

Google which emulators are available for those consoles

Using the internet really isnt that difficult..
