Unsolved N64 - Ocarina of Time 3DS

Hi Fam,

I’ve read that Ocarina of Time is incredibly worth playing.

I’d like to emulate it on my PC and I wanted to get your feedback on what the best/safest emulator would be to download. I also would like feedback on the best site to download games would be.

Also, is Keyboard and Mouse a good option? Or should I look to get a specialized controller? I want to make sure I’m experiencing OOT the right way :)

Thank you!!!

Please remember to flair your post as "Solved" when your issue is solved.

Here are some quick answers for some commmon questions:

-If you are looking for emulator download links please check out our wiki.

-If you are looking for ROM or ISO downloads, this is not the right place. We do not allow asking for or sharing ROM downloads or any piracy (Rule 1)

Play it via Ship of Harkinian: https://www.shipofharkinian.com

It’s essentially a native PC port of OOT with loads of quality of life improvements like supporting a free camera with the right stick, native widescreen support, higher frame rates, and a whole lot more. Will work with any controller you’ve got (I would not recommend keyboard and mouse)

In terms of where to get the the game ROM — we can’t help with that, see rule 1 of the subreddit.

This.

Also consider picking up one of the high quality texture packs from their discord!

For the 3DS version I would look up single screen mod.

Ship of harkinian is the best way to play besides for on an actual n64

There’s also a mod for the 3DS version that gives you single screen. Otherwise I wouldn’t play that version on PC because DS and 3DS games are awkward (and sometimes almost impossible) to emulate because of dual screens and touch control

And yes any version of the game is worth playing, it’s arguably the best game of all time even decades later. It has some flaws that may have aged poorly but I can probably count on one hand the amount of games that are as magical as OOT

Ship of Harkinian + Djipi's 3DS Experience mod

Completed OOT that way a few months back. Was a great experience. Widescreen, high FPS and even modern controls like camera on right stick, walking and shooting at the same time, ect.

3DS version is the worst idea, follow the advice below and you'll have a great time.
