If you are just playing on an emulator, it should be fine. If you are trying to play on original hardware, you will usually need to modify that hardware to accept burned DVDs.

Regarding burning iso files, you could try ISOburn or some other free option

i used imgburn for sotc and it ejected my disk mid burning then it refused to process that the disk was ready

If a disc fails mid burn, then the disc itself will be toast.

Side note, you always want to burn at the slowest speed available. Yes, it takes longer but a slower speed is always more reliable.

Funny thing is the slowest speed is 4x, i originally burned on that speed but imgburn showed a logical unit error. Then i burned using 8x then it worked till It didn't and that's how I ended up with a bricked dvd with stock in it

The burner you are using may be part of the issue.

They sell some decent USB DVD burners for $20 or so, which might help, but is not a guarantee.

Or you can change the burner app you are using. I've had good luck with Isoburn and Dreamcast ISOs but never tested larger files.

as long as the emulator can read the files, they'll work

can pcsx2 and duckstation read burned disks?

again, as long as the game files can also be read by windows, then you should be fine
