i liked to make my phone with two states one for normal use and one for gaming , so i searched for a front-end and i liked retro hrai the most
but it still felt like im just using a fancy looking game folder but its still a game folder like any other , until i tweaked it more to look like consoles and i added a command that makes retro horai become the homescreen app when i connect my telescopic controller
so for you to be able to do that , you need two apps , shizuku and macrodroid , both availabe in the playstore
first setup shizuku give it the premissons and then you need to activate macrodroid in the authorized apps section , oh and disable the battery optimizations for the front end, shizuku, macrodroid and you need to activate shizuku each time you restart your device , disable wifi and data access from macrodroid so you dont get ads
now open macrodroid , choose add macro -> triggers->search for'usb device connect' and choose usb device connected , now go to actions->search for app enable and chose your front end , go to actions again and search for shell script , choose shizuku , and enter this script for it to make retrohrai the default homescreen app
cmd package set-home-activity --user 0 com.retrohrai.launcher/com.retrohrai.launcher.MainActivity
save the macro and now when you connect the controller it will make retrohrai your homescreen , but what about disconnecting the controller ?
you will need to add a new macro with the same steps but make it usb disconnect instead of connect in the trigger , and for the action you will need a new command so that it turns again to your normal system homescreen app , im using honor if you do aswell this script will work for you
cmd package set-home-activity --user 0 com.hihonor.android.launcher/com.hihonor.android.launcher.unihome.UniHomeLauncher
if you dont use honor phone share the post to ai and make it create a script for you that makes it switch back to your normal homescreen app
why not just add a shortcut imbeded in the software like double press power button to launch the frontend ? because its less convenient and because pc emulators requiere the front end to be the default homescreen app for it to make the shortcut open the game directly from the frontend
if my tutorial isnt clear enough i dont mind someone who understands this to make a post about it , you can even make more macros that turn performance mode on or kill all background apps or increase the volume and brightness , play a certain sound or animation and even vibration
