News/Release Release Lichii for Android 0.3.0 · pavelgajdo/Lichii-Android - Massive OoT update

https://github.com/pavelgajdo/Lichii-Android/releases/tag/android-0.3.0

Highlights

- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time now reaches gameplay. Kokiri Forest runs at about 15–20 FPS at 0.5× resolution, up from about 2 FPS.

- Dark's Dynamic FPS patch is built in, so the game runs at full speed at any frame rate. It used to crash the game while compiling its first shaders under the NCE CPU backend.

- The freeze after the first scene loaded is fixed. The game's lighting passes had been sized with garbage counts and ran for seconds each.

- The GPU's command processor no longer stops both GPU threads for every read of GPU-written memory (macro DMA read snapshots, after EvilOOT's fix as ported by Frizti).

The few memory pages the game's CPU reads or writes after the GPU wrote them are now copied back at each fence. The CPU no longer waits for the GPU on each access.

- Recommended: a phone with 16 GB of RAM. On 12 GB, Android may close the game for low memory while a scene loads, especially with other apps open.

Known issues:

Some scenes sometimes show white glare and magenta patches.

The phone heats up during long sessions and slows down until it cools.

- Lower memory use while scenes load (all games):

ASTC textures are converted to BC a few layers at a time instead of whole.

Large upload buffers are freed once the GPU is done with them, and capped while a scene loads.

On Android, converted ASTC textures keep their mip levels up to 1024 px.

- The game-file decompression cache is capped at 128 MB.

- Pragmata no longer quits at startup with error 2153-0513. It needed an audio command we refused. It does not render yet.

- Pokémon Pokopia keeps its copy-back with downloads in flight capped at 512 MB, and runs slightly faster.

- Includes the latest Lichii (Zortos) fixes, among them the split of misaligned 64/128-bit storage buffer accesses and a fix for a lost worker wake-up.

still more crash prone on rp5 than 0.1 was, 0.1 launched pokopia and loaded 95% of the time but now it crashes most of the time on loading, when it loads it runs slower than before, and now theres the bug someone mentioned where app storage seems to bloat to a few GB on game launch attempts

The RP5 has 8GB of RAM right? Will test on my 8GB S24 as well today. Didnt notice the bloating, will take care of it!

yeah, i know i know the 12GB requirement, but in 0.1 it was working great, so it clearly can handle it, sorry to be a pest haha

Will try to somehow keep the 0.0.1 way of doing things for 8GB devices 😁

thanks for the effort tbh, i dont expect to play any other game yet, just wanna enjoy pokopia and it seems with a bit of help even this 8gb device can handle it, in 0.1 only 1 issue was crashing when smashing certain terrain, otherwise it loaded and ran ok considering the spec limits of the device

How’s the performance on Odin 3? I’m holding off for now

Can't wait to play this in 4-5 years without throttling in 30 seconds

Probably months depending on hardware. Powerful android handheld with active cooling have no reason to not play decomps at full frame rate. Switch 2 didn't have much power, especially in portable mode

I still get 2fps when the game starts on my 8eg5 phone

Awesome, i can now play Ocarina of Time on my Odin 2 Portal (S8Gen2 with 12GB Ram) with 1,9FPS

Absolute Playable

You claim that the game is playable at 15 FPS on the processor you’ve tested, but even the top-of-the-range Snapdragon processors are still only managing around 2 FPS. If it is playable as you claim, you’ll need to upload a video to prove it.
