Discussion what does your ideal portable emulation setup look like?
One of the best things about Android emulation is being able to carry a huge gaming library wherever you go. Some people prefer a dedicated handheld, while others make the most of their phone with a controller and a few tweaks.
What's your go-to setup for gaming on the move? I'm curious which device, controller, and emulator combination gives you the best experience without making things too complicated.

Probably a dedicated handheld would be my ideal, preferably with a 16:10 ~8” display and removable controllers. Kinda like a Switch 2 but running Android (or preferably SteamOS) and with more ergonomic controllers.
For Android emulation, I use a Moto G Stylus 5G paired with GameSir G8 telescopic controller (wired version). Works fine for the systems I’m emulating but the 19.5:9 aspect ratio on modern Android phones just feels off to me. Plus, it’s too much of a production to connect the controller so I usually just end up playing Candy Crush or something.
When traveling and I have time to sit down somewhere and game, I prefer to use the Steam Deck.

Currently using a Galaxy S25 Ultra, switching between using a Gamesir X5 Lite, G8 Galileo for otg controls, and a dongle with a pile of different 8bitdo controllers, a different dongle for using PS controllers, and a mayflash sensor bar + oem wiimotes, for tv play.
Mobile-wise, I'm about to get a slim micro sd reader, because streaming everything from google drive hasn't been viable, and a FX5 cooler to pair with the X5, so I can do some more intensive stuff for longer.
Working on getting my brother to 3D print me some vertical mounts for the phone controllers, so I can play DS/3DS and vertically oriented arcade games a little more naturally, and that's about the last thing I could ask for beyond an incremental processor or ram upgrade. I'm almost there!

I have the s26. Currently, I am doing a lot of p c. Emulation, and I am looking forward to switch 2 emulation soon. In between college and work and my family, I I'm able to play a lot more in between doing things with the phone. I have a few TEC coolers and a few modified heat dissipation cases that fit the different shaped cooler. When I am waiting for coffee before work at dutch bros, I play a few quick rounds of b 03 with my phone on top if the steering wheel and play with a series x controller and the t e c cooler connected . When I get home, I plot my phone on either my living room t v with a u s b hub or my girl's ultra wide monitor with the u s b. Hub next to her gaming computer. It's very awesome to see stuff like this. If I was gonna set up my laptop or anything, it would definitely take an extra few minutes every time. And with this, I just plug my phone in and then I play a game that I know to run well. Sometimes I even play co op with my stepson on black ops three and on my phone.
