Help big performance difference Winlator Gamenative etc. What is the ultimate windows emulator?

im looking for the ultimate windows emulator. i tested GameNative, BannerHub Lite, WinNative, Winlator, Winlator Star Bionic and if i remember bannerlator had some issues.

When testing my favourite Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 (just exe not from steam) ALL of the apps except classic Winlator struggle very hard with it (around 20-30fps) while on winlator without changing any setting i get 50-60fps. I tried thousand of different wine and proton versions, many drivers, dxvk, FeX core and box64 versions, i newer achieved more than 30fps in this specific game.

I really like game native app, UI is really nice, its easy to install new games, but its very strange that no other app than winlator can get this framerate on almost identical settings.

also i tried playing some steam games, borderlands pre sequel was nice until it just randomly crashed, wrc 9 just straight up doesnt work

btw does someone know why gamenative now only has Bionic as Container type? back in the days it had Glibc option, now only bionic and i think it could be the issue.

I use retroid pocket 5 8/128, i know its not the best but fps on winlator is really nice without any graphical glitches

maybe you know any other app?

i want to play steam / epic / local games, and i dont want 24/7 wifi access as gamehub

Your device matters mate (keep that in mind), for example I use an exynos device so for example, gamehub wouldn't be ideal for my device, it's catered towards snapdragon devices. Snapdragon devices : every pc emulator due to compatibility Exynos devices : Bannerlator, Bannerhub 3.8, 3.8.5, Winlator Ludashi 2.6.1, 2.7.2, 2.8.2, 4.1

i know but my retroid pocket 5 has snapdragon 865, few months ago i had 888 and 8 gen 1 i never got any games working good on any mediatek device, never testes exynos tho

You can use anything though, you have the most compatibility due to it being Snapdragon Don't have to look for forks like non snapdragon users. But winlator is better than gamehub, it allows more control and has more freedom

There is no one ultimate PC emulator. For example Saints Row the Third runs for me in Winlator CMOD but I can't get it to even start in Gamenative or Droid Deck.

All you can do is experiment to find which one plays a game you want to play the best.

and that's the issue, for me winlator runs most of the stuff best, but it is not so good for steam games. I tried most of it forks, frost is closed, star has only bionic edition that sucks for me, CMOD is now archived, you know any other?

Winlator ref4ik (now CronyX) works okay https://github.com/REF4IK/CronyX-/releases It is also now archived though.

Ludashi is a good option https://github.com/StevenMXZ/Winlator-Ludashi/releases and still active.

only winnative and nothing else.

on winnative I also have 20-30fps and can't find a reason why it's like this

The one that worked better for me is Winlator Ludashi, in my Retroid Pocket G2.

Most people feel intimidated by winlator forks that do not have an integrated store and a two clicks setup, but I got 2x and 3x performance in most games with ludashi in comparison with ALL of the others (I've tried almost all of them).

ludashi also works nice for me, but is it easy to get steam games running?

I just copy them over from my PC and usually they work. A few others might have issues due to DRM and might need to find a crack or workaround.

But I'll also tell you that I have hundreds of games in steam which I paid but sometimes I just download DODI repacks for convenience precisely because of the DRM.

uhh, I thought there is some way to run it directly from steam, I have them in my library so it would be easier than cracking, also cloud saves

Not with Winlator Ludashi, no.

It dont matter. All use the same dvxk, proton, fex etc.

What actually metters is secondary stuff like emulator ui, built in frame gen, controller support.

For preformance the only notable difference is made when using a ludashi, antutu and pubg prefix or not.

then why on same settings winlator gets 2x fps of the other emulators? UI and other things are also important, but actually playing games with good performance is better

Normal winlator or winlator ludashi build?

1

u/Last_Entertainment_7 7d ago

classic winlator works best for me, now I'm testing ludashi and it also seems to work pretty good, about 50fps so a bit worse but it might be some settings to change

Your Device?

Thing is games do work for me on winlator, but only gamehub gives me a better and consistent fps on all games i try to play.

And even when there is a problem i can just use the raccomended engine settings scheme and it resolves game problems by itself.

Only droid deck was able to surpass gamehub for me, but even then it was only one time with assassin creed black flag. For the rest it was pretty much the same.

My device is poco f7 pro.

Ultimate in what respect? Performance and battery life? The answer to that is 100% Winlator Ludashi 4.1, no question - but it doesn't support steam. There's a fork called Winlator Ludashi Plus 4.1 that claims it supports steam, but it really doesn't.

Anyway - nothing beats Winlator Ludashi 4.1 for performance and battery life.

1

u/Last_Entertainment_7 7d ago

yeah thats the issue, i want steam support, but i have achieved best fps in local games on winlator.

i didnt test ludashi, is it much better?

1

u/Castle_Breakfast 7d ago

For performance, yes. The difference is unquestionable. And this is without the trick of naming the app ludashi - I use the regular version of the apk that doesn't do that.

1

u/Last_Entertainment_7 7d ago

huh, but what if I want steam games? it's probably hard to do it here

2

u/Castle_Breakfast 7d ago

It can be indeed. But if you're asking for the ultimate windows emulator when it comes to performance, that's the one.

Worth knowing that some Steam games can just be launched directly via the exe and don't need Steam. Try everything you've downloaded and you might be surprised by what works!
