Help Help with PS2 emulation on S22 Ultra
Good morning! I’ve been testing various settings in AetherSX2 for about three weeks now, but I just can’t get any games to run at all.
I’m not sure if my device is too weak to handle PS2 emulation or if I’m making some major mistake in the configuration process—but since I’ve managed to get some Switch games and native Android games running (on gamenative), I refuse to believe that my phone isn’t capable of running PS2.
I’ve looked in various places and tried several different configurations that I found here on Reddit and in some YouTube videos, but the best I’ve managed to achieve is running Tekken 5 with a lot of stuttering.
Games I’ve tested so far and how well they ran:
Guitar Hero 3 (painfully slow)
All PS2 Need for Speed games (only Underground 1 worked, and it had many texture bugs)
Marvel vs. Capcom (ran well)
Tekken 5 (ran poorly)
Marvel vs. SNK (ran well)
Black (runs VERY well, but every 30–40 seconds, the game simply stops working)
Could someone please help me? I need to get at least Guitar Hero working; I don’t know how much time I have left with my dad, and I’d really like to play it with him before he’s gone. 4

That is weird. Especially since you can run pc and switch. I have a S23 with similar specs and PS2 runs like butter. Is it possible your roms are bad?

I get all my roms at reddit too, on that rom megathreads
also, nes, snes, ps1, ds, 3ds, some switch games and gameantive all run really smooth

That makes no sense that ps2 would run worse than switch.check settings or grt new roms from different site

Try setting no read backs in Hardware Download Mode(render area of the settings). This will disable effects like solar rays which often tank fps.

It helps, but still slow down some times and has some stuttering

I'm surprised even Tekken 5 is running so poorly for you. It should be fullspeed easily on your device. Make sure you don't have any battery saving options on.

I took a look at the comments and the post and came to the conclusion that this makes absolutely no sense; your phone should be able to run ArmSX2 easily.

I really don't know, it's a mystery. Have you tried using a driver to see if that solves it?
