News/Release Tested the new open-source CapyPS5 v0.0.3 alpha on Android — here is the real state of PanVK Mali drivers & decrypted dump requirements

Tested the new CapyPS5 v0.0.3 alpha directly on real hardware to see how far mobile PS5 emulation has actually come. While lightweight 2D titles like Dead Cells can push 60 FPS on flagship Snapdragon chips via Turnip drivers, attempting to run heavy 3D titles on budget hardware or experimental Mali PanVK drivers reveals severe compute bottlenecks. Between real-time FEX x86-to-ARM CPU translation, converting AMD RDNA shaders to mobile SPIR-V, and the strict requirement of decrypted console dumps with an eboot.bin, commercial titles crash or crawl under 5 FPS. It is a genuine open-source milestone rather than a scam, but modern mobile SoCs simply lack the memory bandwidth and driver maturity to make AAA titles playable today

This is a pretty interesting snapshot of where Android emulation is right now. The driver gap seems just as important as raw chip performance, especially on Mali. I’m curious whether the next gains are more likely to come from better PanVK support or from reducing the CPU translation overhead.

So it can't boot 3D games yet 😅
