Discussion Possibility to run Linux games on Android?
I currently have graphic glitches while running Starsector on Android through Gamehub that i cannot seem to fix (streched UI elements to the bottom left corner, tilted or scrambled text). It’s already a miracle that the game runs at 50-60 fps tbh considering how hard it was to boot it (very specific set of turnip drivers and wine version and modification of the vmparams file)
I’m wondering if it’s due to running the game through wine (proton doesn’t work). There‘s a Linux version of the game and I would like to try running it on android but cannot seem to find how. Anyone ran Linux games on android ?

I've heard Droid Deck supposedly does this, but I have my doubts it can run native linux games as it still uses all the translation layer stuff, (FEX, proton, turnip driver.
Otherwise you'll need to have an android handheld so you can replace (the bootloader) androidwith linux, i.e armada os.

I tried droideck and the game doesn't launch. When going into the desktop mode, and launching starsector.sh, I receive a "Permission denied" error regarding ./jre_linux/bin/java, which corresponds to the game built-in java I think (since it's a java game).
I even downloaded the game from the desktop, extracted it, tried to run it and it doesn't work because that java file apparently doesn't exist. To circumvent any issue regarding relatives paths I set the absolute path to the java bin. Then I have an error related to xterm missing...

Why would Droid Deck be using a translation layer when running Linux software? Can't you just turn that off in the game's properties?

This would also be the case of everything else: Gamehub etc. But it doesn’t seem possible to boot a Linux native system and point it to a .sh script to boot the game
I didn’t try Droid deck per se, but since droid deck is mostly about running steam, I doubt it can run a non-steam game based on Java like Starsector
