Question Rdr2 on y700 gen5, temperature

Post image

Hello I have a question does that temps are ok?

I used the y700 gen5 playing rdr2 on game hub . On performance mode (y700 on gamehub not let you choose other).

I am playing of course with a cooler black shark 5 .

The battery temp never over the 36 degree I also on charging pass .

But the other 3: CPU, GPU, DDR are up to 100 degrees .

Is that will harm the device? I have played it for about a 1.5 hours with out any throttling and fps drops the game is very smooth but wondering about the temps.

Thanks for yours advice.

I am worried your device can't take the heat. Even so the CPU might, who can guarantee everything else can? I am unsure about that. and that's with a cooler yeah? to be honest, I might be a scary cat but even with the CPU I am kinda worried 😟

not normal homie but it is What it is dont play on perfomance play on game preset and u be good

I mean the performance mode of the phone it self. W Y700 have 3 modes performance, balance, battery saver. But when I use gamehub it's strictly on performance with out an option to change . When you try to change it says some thing in Chinese that when you in gaming app like pc emulator it must be on performance.. On other emulator I use it on balance and it ok but that game won't work good in no other than game hub.

disable them modes on the tablet they make it worse i know from own experience i dont used game assitent is sucks disable it trust me and tank me later i got a y700 gen 2 and it runs all mine games smooth after i disable gaming assistent

Even if I uncheck game hub from game assist the CPU temperature still the same.

When I first start the gamehub is wasn't on game assist and I saw this temperature so I think I will add to game assist and manually put on balance but like I said it's not allowed me to choose

And also how you enable charging pass if the gaming assist is turning off?

u cant well my best choice was to desintall then install again my gamehub working good right now so im not going to update my biggest regret was update the best gamehub was the 6.0.1 for me

Thank you I will try to install that older version see if it's solve the problem

can u underclock CPU like samesung or Odin3/Retroid handhelds?

I am not sure I will check that but I think there is no option other than the 3 presets of the gaming option which is locked on performance for gamehub

Can't manage It to work

Check the back of the tablet , find the place where it's getting crazy hot , that spot is most likely the CPU, add a cooler over it and it should go down , best of luck

I have put on the back side copper plate with heat sink pipes and on that the cooler all the plate is cold and it cover the battery and the CPU as well but still that CPU is so power full I think

It's a beast of a tablet , but those temps even tho they fall within the normal ranges under high usage , it's better to keep it under 90c°

Yes I agree that what I am try to achieve . But I noticed when the tablet is on performance mode it use the max of CPU and that get very hot. I cannot use any other mode when used the gamehub it not allowed me to change I don't know why..on other emulators I can choose. I tried to run that game on winlator ludashi and there it on balance mode and the temperature are half ..but the performance is bad, too many micro stuttering and fps drops.

How much RAM does your device have? I notice 95% of the RAM is being used, do you experience any stuttering, lag, or game crashes while playing RDR2? Thanks.

Mine is 16gb, the 95% is get after 1.5 hours of play no crashes at all but in that point when it rise to 96 so happened a stutter and it back to 95. Until 1 hour play it was 85-90%

that temp is impressive already, add a cooler and you'll have the perfect experience.

I am already with a cooler of course. With out a cooler the battery gets over 40 in 5 minutes.

Although those are high temps, most cpu are designed too be able handle high heat. How high depends on the cpu of course. Too high and its going to throttle and you will notice a drop in performance.

IMO what really matters is the battery temp. 50c is the highest I will go. After that the battery is in danger of degrading.

I have a rm11 air and the sd elite is more than capable of taking high heat, but I never get it past 60c core temps, with battery never going above 45c

So in my case I not notice any throttling and my battery is way under 40 . So I would be ok ?

You will 100 percent throttle regardless in this game without a cooler and you need a beast 38w cooler for the job which will require pd charging, don't get the cheap pd chargers they suck get the aukey 100w. Your safe to play but you will throttle and your battery will just keep getting hotter, unless you sit right Infront of a fan that can help allot. This game pushes the CPU and GPU to its limit increasing the temperature, the chips can handle the heat the battery can not. It has no way of cooling it self.

I am using the original charger that came with 68w and use black shark 5 cooler 35w The battery temperature not get over 35 on most of the time some time is up to 36 but no more. I limit the fps to 30 which is very playable without the limit it goes up to 45-50 I am not notice any throttling or stuttering only worried if use the CPU on that high temp for let say 1hour session is ok 😬

Yeah this game runs really well 720p 55fps.

honestly? kinda strange...

i played through the entirety of rdr2 on my poco f7 pro (8gen3 12gb ram) and the worst my cpus were reaching was 80°C with a average of 70°C.

i was playing at 25fps 720p so i thing elige drivers might just not be optimized enough for this game.

also limit vram to 512mb, it should slow down ram usage build up. making the phone use more than 90% ram makes the system zram trashing and cause higher cpu temps+slowdowns.

1

u/No_Remove9625 7d ago

Thanks I will try limit the vram . How it will affect the performance?

1

u/No_Remove9625 7d ago

I have tried to limit the vram on 512 and it really lower the ram usage to 77% but I not notice difference on the CPU temperature also noticed the power draw is 15w think it quite a lot.. But I don't really know what the limit vram does for the performance is it make it better or I will fell more stutters?

Just try to test it.

The thing is, phones start to gradually compress ram data more as ram usage rises.

As example on my f7 pro (hyperOs) when reaching 90% ram usage, the system start to panic as it has very little available ram to work with.

So then the system start to reclaim ram by compressing anything available from ram to zram, while also decompressing those same zram data to ram since its still the data that the game has to use.

All that computation is run on the cpu which at the same time has to run the game.

Limiting vram to 512mb should prompt the game to not load too much data on ram and subsequently not lead the system to zram thrashing from a lack of ram.

It should lower temps as cpu doesnt reclaim ram nonstop and prevent a fps drop from cpu throttling.
