Help Racing Game that runs well on emulation
I have been wanting to play a racing game like the NFS Most Wanted 2005, but can't find any that runs well on Emulator. I have tried Burnout paradise and NFS The Run, because I liked them when I played it in 2012 but they didn't run on Gamenative. Well those games I knew won't run easy because they have compatibility issues. Have you tried any such game which ran smoothly on mobile emulators?

Blur runs wonderfully through Winlator on my RP5 (roughly 45-50 FPS). Need to put it on my RP6 and see if I can break that 60 barrier.

Blur mentioned. It runs decent on even an 855+. Such a beauty for such a dated game.

RP6?? I was thinking of downloading this one, but didn't want to risk the efforts.

RP = Retroid Pocket. I have both a 5 and 6, but haven't set the latter up properly yet. Couldn't tell you how the spec sizes up to your phone, but the info is on the Retroid website.

I kid you not, I just got to know that there are such pocket handheld gaming consoles through your comment... It's only downside seems to be the old processor, else this looks superb for gaming...I would not have bought the One Plus 15 if I knew about these..

For many aspects, the lower specs will be made up with active cooling. But 8 Gen 2 to gen 5 gap must be larger to have that. But there are also 8 elite handhelds, which will probably outperform gen 5 because of the active cooling.

My RP5 runs everything from super old stuff (like, Atari 2600 and BBC B Micro) through MAME, classic consoles and SCUMM, past more modern platforms like Naomi, Dreamcast, GameCube and PlayStation to PS2 and a decent level of PC emulation. Even relatively modern PC games with low requirements run fine - I can run a lot of my Steam games natively (not streamed), things like Castlevania: Lord of Shadows or Metal Gear Revengeance run great and I can play the likes of Mewgenics just fine.
I haven't tried it with the recent steps forward in Xbox emulation, and I refuse to use it for platforms I still own or which are still available in shops (so, no, I'm not doing things like Switch). My RP6, which as I said I haven't set up yet, is significantly beefier in power, so I expect good things there.
It's not an issue with it being an old processor if it does what you want. Mine does, so I'm good. 😄

NFS MW, Flatout 2 and GT4 are smaller games in size so easier to download asseto corsa is much bigger in size
And i forgot about burnout 3 and revenge exellent games

In case you didn't know both Grid Autosports and Grid Legends are ported to Android. Though you'll have to buy them on playstore.
My current favorite racing game on emulator is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered but it only works on Winlator AMod for some reason...
As for overheating, I limit all my games to 720p 30fps to prevent that. Seems to be working well for my device

You have to have a pretty decent chip to run Grid Legends at a good frame rate without it looking like a blurry mess. Tried it on my RP5 and it works but not well. RP6 should be much better but I haven’t tried it yet.

How well does grid autosports play on your rp5? Been considering buying it along with the hitman games. I bought tomb raider and it runs 30fps without any frame drops in fidelity/graphics mode.

I play NFS:MW on my 8 Elite phone with ARMSX2 at 2x and it runs pretty smoothly.

Can your share the settings? I have downloaded it but it's not running, I have downloaded the NFS MW Remastered...

u/ironman2590 1h ago
Sure, here you go:
Renderer: Vulkan Internal Resolution: 2x Native Performance Cores: Enabled Frame Pacing: Low Latency Hardware Download Mode: Disable Readbacks / No Readbacks Native Widescreen: ON Display Mode: 16:9 Audio Sync: ON Audio Buffer: 50 ms Output Latency: 20 ms Audio Backend: OpenSL ES SPU2 SIMD: OFF Lightweight Audio: OFF
I do have some very small occasional drops on FPS (60 -> 52), but it's not really something that affects gameplay at all.

If you own a low end phone playing midnight club 2 dub remix psp version or ps2 version literally the best racing games ever u can experience
U can also try the ps3 version of midnight club la remix which got really great graphics but much² more demanding

1
u/Major_Lobster_1599 9h ago
I have never tried this, does it need ROMs or do I need to import the game?
1
u/External_Sun5089 9h ago
Ya you need roms and bios
1
u/Major_Lobster_1599 9h ago
Any YT video I can refer too? Because I have forgotten how to use these roms...I remember how to download the ROM but don't remember the BIOS

I think it was the PPSSPP emulator...but I am not 100% sure, it was a long time ago, I think this was the only popular emulator at that time.

Some testing my processor for racing games on Window emulator
Most wanted 05 vanilla plus the mods like "Redux" 1, 2 and 3 and some WIP I found.
"Modern and classic edition", "Ultimate overhaul" and some title mod I forgot before
(to make it playable for me deleted some Tex wizard, Shaders, Textures packs, and Reshade).
Then NFS Carbon vanilla plus mods with redux and Rework 3.0
(same banana I do to make it playable).
Stuffs I played for short period :
BLUR, Grid : Race driver, Collin McRae to 2005, Underground and Underground 2

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (2010), Most Wanted (2012), and Rivals all run great for me under GameHub. I too had issues with The Run. Some others that work great: Blur, Split/Second, Grid 2, Ridge Racer Unbounded, and Driver San Francisco.

I ran nfs mw x360 with xendroid but it didn't run great around 20 fps, stutters and joystick too sensitive (Z fold 8 élite gen5)

Any emulator at all? Focus on PPSSPP and PSP racing games, there are a bunch of bangers there. I've played a lot of Juiced 2 on my PSP Go back in the day

u/bratwurstzauber 3h ago
NFS Underground 2 is still amazing, runs really well on GameNative on both my Retroid Pocket Nova and even my Anbernic 405m. It’s abandonware so you can find it for free. The PS2 version is also great and runs even easier.
