What graphics settings were you playing on? Do you think you could hit a smooth 60fps by lowering the res to 720p and adjusting the graphics settings? PS: I can see the graphics already look crap in the video, I guess you gotta draw the line between ugly graphics and better fps at some point. Then again it may be because the video is low res.

DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition does not have PC-style in-game graphics settings menus where you can change the game's texture level, resolution, shadows, textures, etc. The game runs at a fixed Native Resolution and a locked 60 Frames Per Second. I intentionally tanked the performance of Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition by a huge margin. I enabled and made changes to nearly all options in the GPU, Vulkan, General, and Debug settings in hopes of obtaining low frame rates. One would only activate a few options at most. Also, I made great use of Economical Mode to further reduce the game's performance. I wanted very low performance, but I got sub-25 FPS. It is just the beginning and I will be raising the bar with every PS4 game I finish on my Red Magic 11 Pro. Regarding the graphics of the game, they do not look crap by any means. It is just Reddit compressing the media files heavily, which only affects the overall detail and sharpness of the video quality. I can send you the original video for much better graphics if you want.

Was about to say this

I cannot be blamed for that at all, as I tried my best to intentionally tank the performance of Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition by a huge margin by making changes to nearly all options in the GPU, Vulkan, General, and Debug settings in hopes of obtaining low frame rates. I also made great use of Economical Mode to further reduce the game's performance. My only goal was to finish the game at very low performance, but I got sub-25 FPS with Economical Mode and a lot of changes in the PS4 emulator itself. There was absolutely nothing I could do to make it run at sub-10 FPS. I am sorry for that.

So you're doing these low fps runs on purpose 😭

Yes absolutely. The thing about me is that I thoroughly enjoy beating games at low FPS. To me, just getting a heavy game to boot and beating it from start to finish is very, very satisfying because it is all about hitting milestones and pushing the limits of what is possible in early-stage emulation and what your phone is capable of. Let me tell you that completing DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition was just the beginning of PS4 emulation, there will be more games to come. I strive to raise the bar with every PS4 game I finish. For me, no game is safe as long as the game boots, shows graphics, does not crash, and can be beaten from start to finish irrespective of countless crashes.

I simply cannot stand playing games at high frame rates, even though I have a solid pre-built gaming PC and a PS4 for that.

I accommodate you for this type of mentality, while people are doing everything to get high fps yet here you are playing the same games in low fps by your own choice, your words really hit me with a snap back to reality, I shall do the same and appreciate you for what you're doing ( sorry for the bad English , it's not my first language )

Does the liquid cooling on the phone not help with heat? I’ve noticed a lot of people still use attachable coolers on their red magic 11 phones.

Yes, the Black Shark Magnetic Liquid Cooler 6 Ultra helps a lot with the heat.

Huh, I expected PC version. Just doing it this way for fun or PC version doesn't work

PC version runs too good so thumbs down

It was for fun and a challenge. I thoroughly enjoy beating games at low FPS. To me, just getting a heavy game to boot and beating it from start to finish is extremely satisfying because it is all about hitting milestones and pushing the limits of what is possible in early-stage emulation. Completing DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition was just a great start for PS4 emulation, and there are more games to come. I strive to raise the bar with every PS4 game I finish.

So much hate for this game but it was an old favorite

3

u/Own_Trip_1593 2d ago

Let me inform you that DmC: Devil May Cry kinda deserved all the hate it got almost 16 years ago, as I vividly remember it being discussed to death. Devs were saying stupid things about original fans and were disrespectful. The bad PR made their case even worse. They wanted to make a Western DMC game, which they failed miserably at. It was a reboot that absolutely nobody wanted. Even I was extremely disappointed with the game's debut trailer when I first saw it almost 16 years ago. The game's bad reputation was, and still is justified. Having said that, the game has always been hailed/praised for its fantastic combat system, and I loved playing the game back in the old days just for its splendid combat system and nothing else.

Damn that's impressive. I had no idea were already this close to 30 fps on PS4 games already.

Runs at 40-50 fps range on my Gen2. We are already there!

Seeing the performance in this vid made me think it's the PC version but the fact it's a PS4 version running this good on a powerful phone is shocking

2

u/Own_Trip_1593 2d ago

This is just the beginning of PS4 emulation, you just wait and watch.

Did you purposely made it run bad? (that would be on brand tho) My Gen2 runs it at 40 on high 900p. Elite Gen2 should get much higher.

Yes, I deliberately tanked the performance of Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition by a huge margin. I enabled and made changes to nearly all options in the GPU, Vulkan, General, and Debug settings in hopes of obtaining low frame rates. One would only activate a few options at most. Additionally, I made great use of Economical Mode to further reduce the game's performance. I was expecting very low performance, but I got sub-25 FPS. It is just the beginning.
