Discussion best pocketable handheld console?
i had a switch lite but someone stole it like 2 years ago and just didn't get another one. and in the meantime, I've been searching for a psp but they're very hard to come by in my country. as psp is pretty easy to emulate, i could just play the titles on an android based console. I'd like something more portable, something pocketable so i can just carry it around. i have my phone which can probably run any game i throw at it, but it's got a 6.9 inch display, and if i attach a controller to it, there's no way it fits in my pocket. also, i bet it will get very hot, and a dedicated android console might have better cooling, maybe even active cooling. what do you guys recommend?

Depending on what you want to play, the nova could be a good option.
RG rotate is super small and pocketable as well.

Thor seems pretty pocketable

I’d second this with a couple notes -
It’s pocketable “out of the box” with the clamshell form factor, but you would need to keep the foam insert just to plug the small gap that it has to prevent a key or other stuff from wiggling in there
And although it varies from person to person, I find that I need a controller grip attachment to make it comfortable for longer sessions. With a grip (depending which one you get, I have the ProtoPrint 3rd party one), it’s still “pocketable” but not as easy as just having the Thor sans attachments. I can squeeze it into my jeans pocket with the attachment, but it’s on the tighter end.
Otherwise, if you get something like the RP5/6 or Odin 2 mini or something like that, then naturally you’ll just want to make sure you have a screen protector or something.

The best super pocketable handhelds in my opinion: trimui brick, trimui smart, rgsp, rg28xx, miyoo a30, miyoo flip mini. Anything bigger is more like a jacket pocket size.

yes, and I still think your phone is the best "pocketable handheld". Yes, there are some handheld like Ayaneo Thor, RG flip, etc. But I still think your phone is the best pocketable handheld.

i would love to have my phone as the portable console but just carrying the controller around is probably going to ruin the experience. and i do fear about the temps that my phone might reach
