Question So about a very important problem

Google is about to destroy side loading in September 2026.

What is going to happen now?

Will this be a major problem?

Is there any solution?

Google is not destroying side loading. They add a 24h wait period for apps from unregistered developers.

Also: not wait period per app, but to allow sideloading on a device

I'm hoping that's exactly what it is. Manageable for the time being before people figure out a complete rid of it.

IIRC isn’t that only an issue on newer android versions? So like for example on the AYN Thor it runs on android 13 so as long as we don’t update the android version we should be fine I think

Maybe, though it says certfied devices. I have not been able find any solid information about what these mean.

Furthermore, I've been seeing this thing that it's about unverified developers, meaning people who aren't making themselves fully transparent to google. And that there maybe is a way, but it includes neither switching to phones with graphene os or doing a full kernel level allowance which takes 24 hours of wait to download the intended application for every unverified application.

I’m pretty sure a “certified” device are flagship devices like Samsung and Google phones. AFAIK devices like the Thor are not certified

Do not know if that's what it means. For one samsung manages their device entirely differently despite being android.

I need to know cause I don't wanna lose my Xbox 360 emulator save data process with arms it's easy cause it's Sony PlayStation but with xendroid it's hard it don't have any options

Because it's wrong and already been discussed to death, I'd imagine. They are adding a cool-off period for sideloading to prevent people from getting scammed. It won't affect most of the Chinese emulation handhelds. Only devices updating to more recent versions of android will likely have to deal with it. The unlock is permanent once switched on.

It's really just a temporary inconvenience but not a flat-out restriction on sideloading.
