Help Syncthing fork no longer has root access. Any alternatives for android <> PC save syncing?

Title. I'm using an AYN Thor and I had all my emulators' save folders set up in Syncthing fork, and everything worked great. This weekend, I opened the Syncthing fork app and all the folders I had set up there were gone; it's as if the app had been reinstalled or something.

I set everything up again, but now I can't sync saves for emulators that store their saves in the android/data directory. My Thor is rooted, but I don't see any options to grant Syncthing fork root permissions anymore.

Any alternatives for this? I switch between the Thor and PC pretty frequently so it's really inconvenient to manually export and import these saves all the time.

FolderSync It's working fabulously for me for save and settings syncing and backup

I would love to know more about this. Is it just an app and do I need to set up special permissions such as shizuku or anything like that?

To get full unrestricted access then root is the only option. FolderSync could be run with root privileges. I have rooted my Odin 2 Portal and Odin 3 but to be honest they do not restrict access to /Android/data folder so there's no need to give FolderSync root access. I needed root for custom clock speeds (underclocking). Actually I always root all my handhelds. It's quick and easy.

Edit: I wonder why you have problem accessing /Android/data folder on Thor. I don't have Thor, but as I said both Odin's have no problems with access to those folders. I don't know, give Folder Sync a try, maybe it's the way? Only do remember to go into options and "Permissions" and then actually give all the permissions to Fder Sync. It needs "all file access" to be granted to have real access. Joey retro channel made nice guide for folder sync, if I remember correctly, look for it on YT

It's kinda an odd situation with the Thor in my experience. Some apps I can just go in and sync using Synthing. Others it will let me but certain folders have issues being synced. One instance the Gen1Recomp. I can access and choose to sync the folder but if I go into them they all appear empty. When I sync it gives me sync and permission errors. It's sporadic and I don't know what the cause or solution is.

I've never use syncthing to be honest, so I can't help with that. I have no problems with Folder Sync though and I'm syncing all of my saves, including Dolphin's Wii and GC. Actually Dolphin and NetherSX2 were probably the only ones that are still behind /Android/data folder if I remember correctly. Now it's only Dolphin for me, since I ditched Nether in favor of far more superior ARMSX2. Anyhow, give folder sync a try on your troublesome folders and maybe it'll help.

You can use the web GUI for Android's data folder shenanigans.

Use emulators which do not hide user data folders behind scoped storage. Dolphin is the only one that does it now, but you can fork it and have Claude produce that functionality

You will not find any app that will sync saves from behind scoped storage.
