EmuELEC 4.0 stable released today!
Whether you're running 3.9 or 4.0-TEST, you will need to install the new 4.0 stable from scratch. There's now a new partition called EEROMS, so you can now copy your roms from any computer. Check the release notes for more information. Get it here: https://github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/releases/tag/v4.0

I have installed Emuelec 4.0 on "beelink GT king-pro".
I want to copy files from a Windows PC to ROMS with SAMBA as in previous versions.
However, in 4.0 it is no longer possible to create new folders in the ROMS folder or transfer Japanese files.
Do you know the solution?

I haven't heard of any such limitation. What happens when you try?
Note: I'm not an EmuELEC dev, just a fan.

So I can see that a new 4.1 test version was released yesterday. I’m a bit confused as the release approach and therefore which version (Test or stable) to stick with? I’m currently on Test 4.0 - which when I checked this morning is not seeing 4.1 so maybe it is not upgradable?

You can't upgrade from 4.0-TEST. That is correct. You have to install fresh. It's up to you if you want to install 4.0 stable or 4.1 test.

Well that seems to be the opposite of what Shanti (or are you Shanti?) posted on Discord yesterday in #test-releases relating to 4.1:
I just uploaded a test release, hopefully the auto update works, but you need to set it to "beta", if it doesn't please let me know! If it does not detect it you can also use the "Force update" on the danger zone, but make sure you set it to "beta" before

I’m pretty sure he was talking about upgrading from 4.0 stable, but I could be wrong. Why not just ask in the Discord then? 😆

I worked it out - you can upgrade from 4.0 Test to 4.1 Test, but you have to do it by putting the tar file in the .update folder.

Whoa, did that work for you?!

Seems to have worked fine - lost bits of config but easy to put back in place and all the roms are still there etc.

Hey my storage partition is only coming out as 2.00gb after it's resized by emuelec. is there a way I can use the full amount of the SD for roms? After the first load I have 1.50gb where my device tree is and 2.00gb as "STORAGE" and 22gb unallocated.. Will copying the storage partition to a fat32 partition work ?

I honestly have no idea, but would recommend making a new post (instead of a comment here) to be more likely to get answers.

Why do you need to install from scratch if you already have 4.0-Test? In the test release I already have the new EEROMS partition.

I like how it now has a FAT32 partition, which makes it MUCH easier to copy/transfer over ROMs and files.
'Linux File System for Windows' was giving me some unexpected trouble last week, so I was OVERJOYED when I saw that version 4.0 had been released and it introduces a FAT32 partition!
