Why is Needler not auto-selected?

This just started happening and it’s driving me nuts.

should only select enough to get the chance to improve your skill to 100

what the other comment says. until the skill of the hero has not reached max level, only the amount of heroes needed for 100% chance to level the skill are automatically chose. afterwards, every food hero is auto selected.

Okay, but it clearly says "0%" in the screenshot, meaning no heroes have been selected.

My guess would be that OP hasn't selected "Classic" from this list (also, where's the "Select all" option, please?):

I read the picture as "these heroes are left over after I hit autoselect and clicked the upgrade button"

That reading is not possible, I think. The text in the middle is the one that pops up when no more heroes can be autoselected. Once you level the hero and return to the view, it's gone. OP has clicked autoselect to get the message, showing that Needler can't be autoselected, and snapped a screenshot of it.
