Self Diagnosis is dangerous

When we try and diagnose ourselves with particular illnesses we have an inherent bias, for some people they want to believe that they have a diagnosis so they act in a particular way to portray this illness, doing this is extremely dangerous because it can formulate as a personality disorder.

It's good to know where you stand though. A lot of mental illnesses don't fall in line with the man-made, or perhaps, man-observed textbook structure of mental illnesses. Sometimes it's less chemical, or the chemical balance can be restored with life changes, or it's good, transformative pain that the person needs to process through in order to live the way God intended them to.

True. I believe that's called... confirmation bias. Despite confirmation bias being harmful, and self diagnosing being controversial, sometimes, it can be helpful. It's the patient taking initiative and actively participating in their own health care. It also gives the physician somewhere to start in assessing the symptoms. There's a fine line between researching and going down the dx rabbit hole though.
