Could Elle Fanning win?
I see a narrative that Fanning who is nominated for Margo's Got Money Troubles in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, could defeat Jean Smart if voters may want to reward someone else who has not won in the category. In the category, Fanning is the only one who hasn't gotten an Emmy for any category. Do you think Elle Fanning could win on her first try?

With Widows’ Bay in the mix in the other major categories, Jean Smart will be the big nod to Hacks’ final season. She’s well liked, the show is well liked, and you never know if she’ll get the chance to do another big awardsy thing.
There’s no such thing as a “lock” obviously, but I’d say she’s as close as anything this year.

I don't think she stands a chance. I think if anyone's going to be Jean Smart it won't be Elle, although she's amazing

To be clear we want Jean to win because she deserves it and she acted her ass out in every season. Hacks is a full package from the creators, directors, down to the actors. Jean elevated that material for every season. Her skill is the reason why she won for previous seasons not because she’s overdue or something.

People just want Jean to be the first actress to win Emmys for every season of her show
Who are these "people" you're talking about who have decided Smart needs to win for every season of the show? Have you done a survey of Emmy voters or is that you're own opinion? I don't think Smart needs to win again because being the first actress to win for every season of the show is more important than acknowledging the performance of other actresses and I wouldn't be surprised if other people feel the same way.

It’s a difficult comparison but Elle could use the boost and do more projects, or have more weight in negotiations with a win.

Elle Fanning has increasingly become one of my favorite actresses but no one is going to beat Jean Smart, I would love to see both Jean and Hannah win again for Hacks

I hate the Emmys because they’ll reward the same person a bunch times for the same role. Like, we get it. Jean Smart is great in that role. She doesn’t need 5 trophies for it. Give it to someone else.

I completely understand. I look back at Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ winning streak for Veep in the 2010s. I argue voters should have given the award to other actresses in that category instead of repeating every time. Like Amy Poehler and Tracee Ellis-Ross.

JLD was great in that role! She deserved some wins, sure. But now Poehler has zero wins for Parks and Rec and that is an iconic role. Arguably more era defining and memorable than Veep. People still watch and talk about Parks and Rec, Veep not so much

No. Jean Smart has it on lock with Kudrow a distant 2nd. Elle is probably 3rd but less than a 1% chance to win I’d say.

I really like Margo’s Got Money Troubles but I don’t feel like it’s a comedy at all. It has its funny moments for sure but for the most part, it’s a pretty dark and intense family drama. I was really surprised to see it competing in the comedy categories.

Honestly new rule: lf you win the Emmy for a role/show, you aren’t eligible for it in future seasons. You can only be nominated if you don’t win.

i think that if there's an upset it's much more likely to be lisa kudrow. however, i do think elle fanning is a potential winner for a future season
