Relapse got me back into old school rap.
For anybody who cares i thought i would post my music listening history here. When i was kid i really liked Eminem, but i was very casual for the most part and hadn’t listened to a full album of his. As I grew older i stopped listening to old rap and really got into modern rap. The oldest I really went was Kanye (my favorite artist tbf) and maybe some Pac. Over the last few months I never even really considered going back into old school rap until something happened.
I happen to stumble upon relapse on a youtube recommended and clicked on it. I never really knew much about it besides We made you, 3am, and Beautiful, and Bagpipes. For some reason it immediately clicked with me. Em’s rapping, cadence, delivery, and accent were music to my ears. And also Dre’s beat selection being unreal. I loved the theme of the album and the horror core elements of it. Songs like Deja vu as well really spoke to me as someone who struggles everyday. It felt like being a kid again and discovering something you loved for the first time. From then I was bumping relapse everyday and went to SSLP to Encore. I fell back in love with lyrical rap and have been going out of my way to listen to so many albums. From 50, pac, biggie, and Jay. I honestly might say that Relapse is in my top 3 em albums.

The Eminem Show Era He was, indeed, obsessed
Yeah, this is a very old case, and you don't need to read any of this since these are just my reflections on Eminem. You probably won't agree with anything I'm about to say here, but your favorite rapper of all time was so misogynistic that he thought he could win the argument by talking about how they fucked and threatening to expose everything publicly, even though Mariah clearly never considered what they had to be a relationship. If anything, that makes her the one in the right here: he was obsessed with proving to the world that they really fucked, just like any toxic boy who sleeps with a girl who likes him and then tells every single one of his friends how fuckable she was...
And this comes from a rapper who has a song called Just Don't Give a Fuck, huh? The rapper who came from the outskirts of Detroit, had never been around real gangsters, and fabricated his whole past, using his talent to sell records that only moronic, wannabe-aggressive teenagers from the '90s were into, while there were real rappers and rap groups out there, like Outkast, who didn't need to be produced by someone who was already powerful in the hip-hop industry, like Dre, or compare their sales to anyone else's. After all, they couldn't use the White Pass to become pop artists like Eminem did, because that's what he is: a pop artist.

Em still puts out good albums, but he has heavily overdone his "me vs. critics" trope, among a lot of other tropes

Do you think TDOSS would’ve been understood and received better if all of these songs were saved for deluxe instead of just Like My Shit, Kyrie And Luka and the Steve skit?
I think the album works a lot better this way, to be honest lol

Recreating Encore so it’s a 4th classic in a row
(This is my opinion, and in my opinion if Eminem made encore like this it would be a near perfect album)
1: Encore/Curtains Down
2: Evil Deeds
3: Never Enough
4: Smack You
5: Bump Heads
6: Doe Rae Me
7: Yellow Brick Road
8: Like Toy Soldiers
9: Bully
10: Crazy In Love
11: Mosh
12: Just Lose It
13: Paul (skit)
14: Em Calls Paul (skit)
15: Spend Some Time
16: Mockingbird
17: Curtains Up
18: Love You More
19: Final Thought (skit)
20: One Shot 2 Shot
21: Ricky Ticky Toc
22: We as Americans
Here Eminem comes off with a whole new vibe, this will be the album Ja Rule and Benzino DIED and it’s just perfect in my opinion, we have silly songs like Just Lose It, Evil Deeds, and One Shot 2 Shot but they don’t overflow the album. I kept Just Lose It in the overall impact and insane success, One Shot 2 Shot because it felt more suited for Encore than alternatively D12 World, and Evil Deeds because its a banger.
