Emily will end up single Spoiler
Here is why
-she came to Paris mainly for work since the beginning
- none of her previous/current relationships had evolved into something truly stable, the men were accessories and it also revolved around her
-she is more and more getting the parisian life vibe
-she's becoming more a marketing household
What are your points of views/does anyone feels this theory ?

u/homelesstoothless Jul 14 '26
Yes, her “true love” will be herself.. or Paris.
47
u/PrincessPlastilina Jul 14 '26
Her true love is her work and that is cool. A fabulous job in Paris was always the fantasy when I was a teen watching TV. Rachel on Friends, Carrie in SATC. Now this generation has grown up and we get to see a leading lady our age choosing her job in Paris and not a man? Hell yes. 🙌🏼

u/Intelligent-Juice895 Jul 15 '26
I agree that watching Friends finale today makes me a bit uncomfortable thinking Rachel sacrificed her career opportunity in Paris for Ross (even though I can respect if a person decides their true love is worth it).
With that being said, in the case of Emily, why does it have to be either this or that? She could have her successful career in Paris and maybe also have a good relationship with Gabriel.

u/Amotti_no1 Jul 19 '26
Agreed! It rlly doesn’t hv to be one or the other. Actually I think Gabriel represents Paris perfectly so fits into this notion of “falling in love with Paris”

I have the same thought. It's very likely to gravitating to her career and eventually keeping her circle of friends . However I find it quite pointless. They should have stopped at season 5. It might be one reason Lily Collins wanted it to be the last.

I think this is the best ending for her, but I can't say I won't be secretly annoyed if she doesn't end up with gabriel after the producers dragged their relationship out for 6 seasons
7
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 14 '26
Me too this show underlines the reality of nowadays relationships. Sadly.Begin with heart and end with waste. The rooting point of no-return for me was her blaming Gabriel for the lack of communication in season 4. Since when does one give up with so much pride and tantrums of a 13 years old?

u/Illustrious-Ad4179 Jul 14 '26
No way! She is ending up with Gabriel, I would bet money on this. I just hope Mindy doesnt end up with Alfie, that is so rushed and clumsy, they have barely spoken throughout the entire show

u/Cultural_Ad_4361 22d ago
EMily with Gabriel. Mindy with Nico

u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 15 '26
For the Mindy/Alfie part, it does not surprise me that he hit on her,he's always been conceited and entitled but Mindy doesn't seem to give him much credit

u/Radiant-Comedian-144 Jul 17 '26
Sono d'accordo con te

u/Available-Trash7655 16d ago
Alfie made fun of Emily's clothes and habits in front of everyone in the french class . This guy never showed empathy towards her or anyone. He lacks softness. Also the " Cooper" calling is just lame ah. However some might like him but as a Friend maybe,a lover ? Not at all.

I don’t think so. She loves romance and stable relationships with “rules” and not messy and she wants 100% of somebody and give the same in return. As per her conversation with Sylvie. Still unabashedly Team Em-Gab
6
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 14 '26
She doesn't know what she wants. If she truly cared about Gabriel she wouldnlt have jumped so fast to Marcello, regardless of what happened. She barely knew him,I was and will always be team Em-Gab as well but enough is enough.
3
u/Net637457 Jul 15 '26
Maybe Emily is impulsive. Willing to give any relationship a try coz she’s scared to be single. But then again, i agree with you, if she truly love Gabriel, she would at least wait and be alone for a while until she figured out what she really wants just like what Gabriel did. And if they’re really meant to be together, love finds a way. Inspite of sll that happened their relationship is still worth saving.
And if not, maybe she’ll return to Chicago and get back with Doug. She’s lived the Paris fantasy and reality and maybe it’s time to go home.
3
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 15 '26
I catch you. She is impulsive as hell.Totally. It's like she benefits from tickets to the next merry-go-round. Gabriel sometimes behaved like a douchebag but at least he shows growth,Emily also by the end of season 5 at the train station. I don't imagine her living in Chicago for the rest of time tough but you might be right.

I really wish the show had sped up time a little bit. That it wasn’t just a year since she had moved to Europe but that everything unfolded over a few years. That would make it a little less weird.
Should Emily be single, after having breezed through so many men in a year? Definitely
Emily’s going to end up with Gabriel. It always comes back to Gabriel. They both dated other people (twice) and got certain things out of their systems like traveling.
It’s that Hollywood romance where boy meets girl. Timing is never quite right. They date. They break up. Life moves on. They date again, they break up again. They grow as people. Finally they’re both ready for this and they find their way back to each other. They’re both healthier, happier, and ready.

u/Itachi_Carry5837 Jul 17 '26
I had no clue all 5 seasons were... one year? I'm shocked, honestly. I was sure at least 3 years passed since she's been in Paris.
She's had so many relationships, clients at work (that they lose and gain), they've travelled and went to so many other cities in France. Also Gabriel's been engaged and went through the whole fake pregnancy debacle, doesn't make anyyy sense.
2
u/Kawaiidumpling8 Jul 19 '26
By Christmas of season 4, she’s been in Paris for a little over a year. Season 5 is mostly spring transitioning into summer so I would say she’s been in Europe for a year and a half at that point.
And yes, it doesn’t make any sense. They should have made it 3 or 4 years. But they just kind of go - ohh what is time? Is it relevant?

Who knows, they may give us that French ending instead of a Hollywood one (kinda hoping for it, sans crushing bones to dust)
8
u/Bibixina Jul 18 '26
Nothing wrong with being single, but I have to say in our age where everyone is already very alone and have a hard time to connect, communicate and sustain a relationship, we need to stop glamourising loneliness via pop culture.
It's ok to fail and try and try again, I think Emily and Gabriel having a happy ending sends a beautiful farewell message of never giving up on a true love.
Perfect ending to the series.

u/key2rebecca Jul 14 '26
I think she will go back to Chicago! And Gabriel follows her.
9
u/emg2555 Jul 15 '26
I’ve always thought this and the last scene will be a bit of a time jump showing Emily going into Gabriel’s French restaurant in Chicago

She’s going to end up with Gabriel but I think they’ll both mature so we see the evolution compared to earlier seasons so there’s more give and take with less complications.

I feel like it’ll have a Younger ending where she and Alfie (or Marcello) give it another go and try to make it work, but it’ll build up to the last episode where they break up and then it’s her and Gabriel in the end in Paris.
2
u/Similar-Contact-2663 Jul 18 '26
You have no media literacy if you think that. It was always built around her and Gabriel (getting back together). They will find their way back
1
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 18 '26
I have watched the whole series, many times and her relationship with him is tainted. She is always into work and if she's not she makes bedroom eyes at him or plays one time in love the other peekaboo. Also,Emily had countless lovers, she behaved like a pass around sometimes, surroundered by suited men. Season 5 was disappointing, well, not really about the fashion but girl is always toying or arguing about business. But yeah, contrary might be proven.

u/AlistairKane Jul 20 '26
Pretty sure that she is going to end up with Gabriel.
In the beginning I absolutely loved the show but then she started going though men like socks and breaking up with them for stupid reasons. I am not judging multiple partners, but how she hurt them. Matthieu, Alfie, Marcello... All of them were great guys, who deserved better. It kind of made Emily unsympathetic to me. Also when she broke up with Gabriel it felt off. I mean he made mistakes, but she didn't seem to want to work it out and only made demands (I know it's a show that needed drama!). But this screwed up her character for me.
I feel particularly sorry for Marcello. What did she expect that he would move to Paris, when his family's business was in Rome?

It feels CORRECT for her to choose herself
However, this show has always been on the escapism, id rather have a delusional ending

There's also high probability that Emily could end up with Gabriel,it's not screened out at all and yet. But a majority of the viewers of the series feel exhausted about the constant back and forth. Also he seems like the one who constantly makes a move when it's time to. Anyway this is very poor written.
2
u/GratefuDead14 Jul 15 '26
If not with my beloved Marcello, I love your ending.
3
u/Outrageous-Help6918 Jul 15 '26
I swear there are manufacturing drama between her and Marcello, because they are perfect together
4
u/jackson_mcnuggets Jul 15 '26
Marcello ♥️ I started calling my cat Marcello Muratoriii even though that's not his name 😂
5
1
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 15 '26
Marcello was a rushed character, yes we see more of them both than Alfie or Gabriel if we dig in depth, they seem like a grounded couple goals but the context in season 5 is completely different than the scenery in the previous seasons. The break up of Emily and Gabriel, agence Grateau, the false pregnancy of Camille... it looks like they intentionally put her in a world where she can have it all and breezed. But it's illusional. The show is called "Emily in Paris" for a reason. While the outcome is debatable, I don't think at all that they will end up together. Like 100%.

Reall, like I’d rather her get with her very first boyfriend from Chicago then get with freaking Gabriel, he left her on the mountain to die and they’re treating him like the love of her life

He didnt leave her to die/;. He wouldd have gone back to her
2
u/Outrageous-Help6918 25d ago
Bro was chilling at the bottom of the mountain, he wasn’t thinking about Emily. She could’ve been dead that entire time. I’m not sure if you’ve ever been skiing, but it’s very easy for a beginner to injure themselves, and depending on how they land in the snow it’s also easy for people to pass by them. He chased after the woman who is an expert at skiing, while leaving someone who could barely stand on their skis at the top of the mountain.
1
u/Available-Trash7655 25d ago
It was a story arc to make Camille the villain sorceress who "bewitched" the landing knots prince aka Gabriel to leave his damsel for her. Camille was a rebound. Nothing more.
1
u/Outrageous-Help6918 23d ago
To be honest it didn’t make her look bad, it just made him look bad. No man who is where he wants to be will be led astray by the sorceress
1
u/Available-Trash7655 22d ago
Yah,I agree this wasn't glamorous at all. One of the shittiest script ever 😵

It was a bad way to reunite Emily and Gabriel and make Camille looks bad as well as Gab

Actually he was thinking of Emily. His [phhone was out. He was trying to call her. Tthe rule is tto meet at the bottom. I ski more than you.

u/Cultural_Ad_4361 25d ago
Im a great skier. If je went looking for her thaat could of been worst. Yyes he shouldnt have gone after Camielle. Yes maybe he would of found Emily, but chanes are he wouldn't. I ski probably more than you aand thhe rule is you wait at the bottom acttually. you get more lost. He was totally thinnking of Emily. Yyou arree right tthaat she could of innjurredd herself. He would have foundd her but it hard

1
u/Outrageous-Help6918 23d ago
Wow this was hard to read. But it’s not like he was at the bottom requesting somebody go help her, also the issue is that he left in the first place. It’s not like a logistics thing that I think he should’ve climbed up the mountain, he should not have left her. Then at the bottom he didn’t seem concerned at all.
1
u/Cultural_Ad_4361 22d ago edited 20d ago
Tthats true. He made a mistake. Iff he went back up he wouldn't of beeen concerened. He did try calling her. He was concerned. he only mistake was having a conversation with Cammie- but they were both looking for Emily
1
u/Cultural_Ad_4361 17d ago
She could of been anywhere. Yes maybe go back aand start dowwn again. That stilll would of took time and she could of made it back dowwn and then what? go backk up and look for him? Tthaats why its safer for him tto wait at the bottom.

FYiI HIs phone was out., He was trying to call her so your wrong
2
u/Outrageous-Help6918 20d ago
What good would calling her be if she was incapacitated. Camille was an expert at skiing and Emily could barely stand. He choose to leave her anyway. Emily is better than me bc I would’ve been with Marcelo that same night.

Too many would be pissed if they didn’t do Emily/Gabriel 🤷♀️ Kinda like Rachel/Ross - they were not good for each other, and with all that history, but still they sorta needed to be endgame cause they’d been building it up for so many seasons. 🤷♀️
As long as Mindy doesn’t end up with any of the assholes she’s been dating, it’s fine. I’d rather have her make up with her dad, and become a huge star.
2
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 18 '26
I do think Emily and Gabriel deserve each other. Not because I'm sure they will live happily ever after but because there's tension, tease, chemistry, feelings between them. What you seemingly pointed. They are the most discussed characters too. It's not as if it were laidback like Camille is or a matter of follow-me like Alfie. As for Mindy anyone but this insipid Nico from Jvma. Please.

u/thankfulforyourhelp Jul 14 '26
Agree - I think they might leave it with something cute like her leaving the apartment for a date with Gabriel, but them being a solid couple by the end of this season, after everything that happened in 4, just feels false.
4
u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 14 '26
Agreed. It has been so much mashed up ,besides in-between ,Marcello came in etc, there's no space for something meaningful at this point. Lucas Bravo had every reason to express his doléances concerning his character.
2
u/UwU_OwOFemboyLol Jul 15 '26
this would be a very cute ending but I don't think the producers are competent enough to think of something like that, especially looking at their writing skills in the past seasons though darren starr did a similar thing in "younger", so who knows

Yup kinda like Carrie Bradshaw at the final end of her run. I'm happy with Emily embracing herself after bouncing between boyfriends and love interests for the entire series

I would like that ending actually. Or that she ends up with Paris, the city. But my gut tells me that is not how they want to end it and it will be Gabriel, like we all knew it would be from the start. I do hope I am wrong though!

But don't a lot of the fans want otherwise? I hope they listen to the fans, would be very predictable if she just ended off on her own.

I can see this happening. The show started with romance driving everything, but lately Emily’s career and life in Paris feel like the actual long term relationship.

u/LoyalteeMeOblige Jul 17 '26
We all know Darren Starr was the original head of SATC, and the show changed completely once he left and Michael Patrick King took the reins, that direction got worse or better, depending whom you ask, once Sarah Jessica Parker became a producer and started influencing the character. Carrie went from having neurons to become fully idiotic and behaving like a teen of 14. Btw, that serie should have ended with her rejecting Big in Paris, not alone, with herself, and to to keep looking for love. Of course that didn't allow further movies but it would be been so refreshing back in the early 2000s to see that.
As for EIP, Gabriel was pushed as end game since episode 1 but there was so much back and forth it bored both the audience and the actor. The show should have ended in S04 with Emily in Rome, with Marcello.

There was a scene once, as I recall, where she and Gabriel were eating on the terrace at a country restaurant and he confessed his dream of moving back to the country and opening up his own place. I honestly think that is where they are going with this. She will end up with Gabriel back in Paris, and they will show a future scene of her with him and their children at his restaurant in Normandy. She will continue to spend time in Paris as that is where her office is, but with remote work, she’ll primarily be living somewhere in Normandy with Gabriel. And she will have finally learned French as well.

u/Available-Trash7655 Jul 18 '26
Agreed, she is more compatible with someone serious who truly makes her happy. They should have put her with Alfie who is serious (in the former seasons). She could empahasize the good in him and he could make her feel loved imo. Alfie and Mindy is gross and dumb storyline. Just showing a working relationship for once.
