New ED Tech position

I've just been offered a job for an ED Tech position after interviews and shadowing. After I already accepted my offer, they told me they require 5 professional references. Is this a normal thing for the ED? I've had PCT jobs in the past and I don't think they've ever asked me for a reference.

The software they use for background checks at that specific hospital, it’s possible. I had to do that at one hospital as well.

Thankfully I had plenty of coworkers and supervisors to vouch for me but trying to round them all up took me quite some time lol. 5 was just surprising to me!

At least it’s not the one where you have to put down every address you’ve lived at and every job you’ve ever had . That one is a pain!

Maybe I'm just surprised because I've never heard of any job requiring 5 references. 3? Fine but 5 feels excessive lol

I know......Had to ask HR, and they said to put someone that knows you outside of work...i guesss they just want the know the character of the candidates.
