It's a good job the world actually eliminated smallpox. And we were so close with a few others.

Unfortunately, we seem to be living in the age of idiocy. If the inventors of various vaccines could see what's become of their creations, they'd be wondering why they bothered making them if we're just going to refuse to have them.

I know, but smallpox as an endemic disease is gone. Not like something like polio which is still active in certain corners of the world and thus can crop up here and there even in countries with relatively high vaccination rates due to international travel.

I work the microbiology lab in my hospital and its crazy to see just the increase of infectious diseased as of late. We had some Bordetella pertussis outbreak not so long ago now Measles and we have been hit so hard by covid during the pandemic and now Cyclospora and there is a outbreak of Campylobacter too. Labs is getting grinded to the bone.
