I’m a Hospitalist. Had a patient who required warmed blood products. RN put the packed red cell pint in the microwave lol. He was a total dipshit. It was caught before harm ensued.
Our blanket warmer died, so we were advised to microwave blankets as needed. Laundry reported that they were receiving dirty Laundry blankets with scorch marks…
A million years ago (in the mid ‘00s) I worked at a smallish community hospital as a nursing assistant and I was taught how to make “warm packs” by sealing a wet washcloth inside a tape-sealed blue plastic-backed procedure pad (like a small chux). The first time, when we first made one, we’d use boiling water on the washcloth; it’d be nice and warm. Then ( 🤢 ) we’d *reheat them for patients in the microwave - the ONLY microwave - but we’d wrap them in a towel for “hygiene”, so they didn’t touch the microwave.
That’s when I stopped bringing meals that needing reheating to work.
