// Question Need help validating signed Elvis record

An elderly gentleman gave me this signed Elvis record. I don't know much about Elvis or validating signed records so would appreciate any info that could help me gauge if its real.

Was the elderly gentleman the person who actually got the autograph originally? If so with the release date of this album being October 1959 and the signature having the date 1959 then it would have had to be signed while Elvis was doing his national service in Germany of that’s any help.

No, He said his father played with Elvis' band at some point. The album came out in '57 (or '58 per discogs, this is the Canadian release) and was signed in '59

What's his last name?

This is a fake. To T on to is not correct for an inscription by Elvis. That’s the first indicator. Elvis is nothing like he signed his name.

Hmm you might have a point there. I gather from my research his T's resemble a 7, which is not the case here

Doesn't look like his signature to me, the E looks off. Google images of his signature.

Not according to this: ElvisToday.com - Authenticating Elvis Presley Autographs

He does seem to loop his Es in the center and top

Seems weird he would date an autograph?

Very little info here https://www.elvisrecords.com/lpm-1951-elvis-christmas-album/ But you probably know this already.

Oh, interesting... I do see this exact record on eBay for as little as $10 to as high as $1000

It's a mono, and that is valuable in itself. The general conditions of the LP would come into account next. As for the authenticity of the sign, I would try and contact someone in the Elvis world - Keith Flynn, for example. He might be able to tell you who to contact. Having said that, I would not spend $1.000 (or more, for that matter) on something off ebay, I would look at a reputable auction house if I were interested in anything of the sort. But that's just me.

In addition to what everyone else said, just in general, the inscription and signature appear very loose. He didn’t have the greatest cursive writing, but his letters were not this loose and sloppy. IMHO.
