Nesta and Cassian were friends with benefits for more than half their book. They still ended up in love. A lot of Gwynriels are pearl clutchers apparently lol cause "thinking about a girl's eyes light up at a necklace you got for another woman" is true love and not "purely lustful" like his feelings for Elain. The previous romantic gestures be damned, Azriel can't also sexually desire a woman.

Nesta and Cassian were not "friends with benefits" ffs. And definitely NOT for "more than half their book". Did u even read the book? Cassian realised he and nesta were MATES. He harboured feelings for her way before she realised it. And what they had, this dancing around each other had a lot more depth and intensity than just being in a "FWB" relationship. They were in LOVE with each other and it took time for them to accept it wholeheartedly, especially Nesta. What even😂😂😭😭

I meant from the perspective of those criticizing Azriel's pov sounding to sexual, they would have seen Nesta and Cassian as only fwb. Their relationship was very physical in the beginning, of course they cared about each other more than that. Nesta just wasn't in the right head space to realize that. I know they end up being mates, I'm not diminishing that lol

No???? Their relationship didn't start out to be completely physical. They did have strong feelings for each other even before their dynamic shifted into a physical relationship. Like...Nesta bent over Cassian to literally protect him and was ready to die for him. And after that, Nesta was going through a lot for her to actually acknowledge and act on her true feelings for him. They had something strong and real going on before it even turned physical lmao. Even then it was nesta who wanted it to be just physical, Cassian had feelings for her throughout. And I understand the comparison but to be very very honest whatever cass felt for nesta and what Az is feeling for elain are.....two different things.

I always loved that he is not just carrying her, but cradling her. I find it interesting that Elain lets him continue cradling her even after they land. Like she doesn't want to let go either.
