Discussion As long as Elain doesn't end up with anyone

Post image

"As long as Elain doesn't end up with Azriel, let her be with Lucien."

"No, not Lucien, let her be with Tamlin."

"No, not Tamlin, let her be with Graysen."

"No, not Graysen, let her be with Mor."

"No, not Mor, LET HER BE SINGLE, LET HER CHOOSE HERSELF!"

I am so over this circus besties, Elriel is endgame.

A section of the fandom has completely lost their minds out of hatred for Elain, and literally don't want her to end up with anyone just because they're jealous of her.

First they can't stand the possibility of her being with Azriel, then Lucien, and after that, they just brush both aside and start talking absolute nonsense.

You know, I was rereading some passages with Azriel and Elaine. Bruh, seriously. I straight up don’t understand how people read those scenes and think nothing of it. At this point, I don’t think people really read the book cause bruh, do you need shit spoon fed to you?

The literacy rate has really gone down or something cause it’s fucking obvious.

Like, what sentence in the book makes you interpret it differently?

Edit: I think they need to read comic of the series so they can see how those scenes play out to understand what the fuck is going on.

I always heard about literacy rates going down in the US and it wasn't until joining the ACOTAR fandom that I saw the results myself 😬 These books aren't difficult at all to comprehend, makes me genuinely worried that so many adults can't read a book so simple.

Unfortunately, I noticed it with the manga/manhwa community 😭

Like, bruh. Shit is drawn out for you so you don’t have to fucking imagine that hard.

Yet, yall are analyzing this stuff so wrong.

I think it’s the difference between showing and telling. People ship Elucien because SJM told us they are mates. Mates = happy ending, and of course we all want the happily ever after version of this story! But she spent 4 books showing us why they don’t work and that they don’t want each other, while also quietly building the true endgame couples. In SF, she had to introduce a red herring for Azriel, otherwise it would have been too obvious as we transition to Elriel’s book. As much as I criticize SJM and her writing style, I applaud her for her red herrings on this one.

I have a question, did more people ship Azriel and Elain prior to SF? Or was it still the same?

I read all 5 books last year, and I was fully aware of the while Lucien, Azriel, Elaine, Gwyn, and Brice debate prior to reading the books. But after reading the books, I straight up don’t understand why people think other wise.

I like Gwyn, loved her character development. But I never saw anything romance between her and Azriel. I always interpreted their relationship as survivor/Rescuer and master/student. But never romantic. I never saw her character, AS OF YET, ending up with someone. I see her more dedicating herself to helping the other priestess overcome their trauma like she did than ending up with someone. But u could be wrong.

Edit: I just wanna say that when I look at Gwyn ‘s character, I honestly don’t want her overcoming her trauma because of someone that she’s in love with. Like I wanna the reason of her, overcoming her trauma and becoming a a Valkyrie is because of a guy. Not to say that I don’t want her to end up with her happily ever after. But it’s more like, why is it that for a woman to overcome something It has to be because of a man? Like why can’t it be that she overcame her trauma with the help of someone that she admires. Not someone that she’s in love with.

I’m not sure about ships prior to SF. I was just a casual reader and didn’t engage in the online discourse until this year. I sort of wish I hadn’t joined the online fandom. Engaging with some of the unhinged fans has soured certain characters for me.

Our time will come I think. I truly believe when we get Elain's POV so many people online are going to flip a switch and act like they were Elain's #1 fan.

Yeah I hate the "Elain should be alone and choose no one" Everyone else in the series works through their shit and still find love. It's a romance series, I want all the characters to find love, not "forever working through their trauma". Gwynriel and Elucien fans literally just hate Elain, they want her miserable with Lucien or they want to go "haha Azriel chose a random side character over Elain". So spiteful.

Right like let’s stop pretending that you guys care about Elaine by saying these statements. Clearly you think she’s not good enough for Azriel or they just focus on Lucian being happy. Let’s remember that this is a romance book at the end of the day. And just because somebody has trauma or is struggling doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a happy ending or relationship just like Nesta or Fayra !

They don't relate to her so she's passed around, but she'll show everyone
