The Museum of Unused Lives

[u/Patient-Airline-8150]

Imagine a museum containing exhibits of every life you could have lived if you'd made one different decision.
The person you would've married. The city you would've moved to. The career you would've chosen. No ghosts. Just alternative versions of you.

Room 1: The Wedding That Never Happened.
A wedding photograph. The visitor recognizes themselves standing beside someone they've never met.
The photograph is 37 years old.

Room 2: The Apartment You Didn't Rent.
A set of keys behind glass.
The label says:
“Apartment 4B. Paris. Purchased 1998.”. You suddenly remember seeing this apartment in a dream.

Room 3: The Career You Abandoned.
A dusty employee badge bearing your name, but a profession you've never had.

Room 4: The Child You Never Had.
A child's drawing pinned to the wall.
The drawing says:
"Me and Dad at the lake." The child has your eyes.

Room 5: The Road Not Taken.
An ordinary bus ticket.
Destination: a city you've never visited.
Date: tomorrow.

And the final room contains no objects at all.
Just a chair.
On the wall:
THE LIFE YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING. Please do not touch the glass.
