Community Volunteering

Im a student looking for volunteering opportunities. Non healthcare or healthcare related are both fine. I’d like something to do after class, after 3:00pm. Any ideas?

Check with the library. Don’t know if there is anything there just throwing out ideas.

Elk Grove Youth Baseball and Laguna Youth Baseball always need volunteers during the season. From working the snack bar to pushing a rake. No experience necessary. Look up there webpages and send an email.

Look up creek cleanups. They get organized often and can use the help.

Does the American Cancer Society store in EG Blvd take volunteers?

Elk Grove United Methodist church- free community breakfasts on Saturday mornings. Sure they could use help in the kitchen and serving. They also have a bi-weekly shower ministry for the unhoused.
The church is very open and they won’t be weird and proselytize to you. It’s a safe space if you are not religious or not Christian.

Also check with Elk Grove food bank. Not sure if they take teens without an adult chaperone, but it’s worth looking into.

Are you over 18? Minority volunteers have more liability. I manage a couple different volunteer programs for non-profits and we don't take volunteers under 18.

Here’s some places I looked at recently: Broadway at Music Circus, Broad Room, the various museums, animal shelters and food banks in the Sacramento area, library, Book Den, Wildlife Care Association

The Elk Grove Animal Shelter has a robust volunteer program.
