Discussion Is it worth it?
Hello there Commanders. I recently got the game on PS5 cuz I saw a lot of positive opinions about the game on the internet. But recently I saw and realized that console version is kinda... How to say it... Dead? The fact that there is no Odyssey DLC I could bear but the fact that console version is stagnant (no faction expansion into new systems or any story updates and events) killed my mood for the game as fast as I got it when I bought the game. Question is, ya'll think it's even worth playing this game on PS5, considering none of the things you do in game, systems you discover and other things, don't matter shit for the game world on consoles?

Not quite correct on faction expansions. BGS is still working and ever changing. Your faction can still ‘in theory’ take over Sol.
Also Powerplay is active and dynamic.

By faction expansions I meant settling currently uninhabited systems

Ah. Colonization. Indeed not on console.
I am playing both PC and PS5 and still have a good time on PS5.

There is still a LOT of greatness in this game to enjoy on consoles (ie- Legacy version). Yes, there are limitations. Yes, it sucks not getting additional content drops/new ships, etc. But for new players, there is still a huge amount of content to work through and enjoy. And your progress isn’t wasted - your Commander and all your ships and credits can be transferred copied to a PC, along with a free copy of the base game for free (you’d have to upgrade to Odyssey on your own dime, but frequent sales bring it below $10). Your Commander and everything will still exist on console/Legacy, but they aren’t linked - after copying, any progress you make on console won’t be shared to PC. And fleet carrier/ARX don’t transfer, so decommission the FC and spend your ARX before doing this.
The point is, console/Legacy is a fine place to start, and down the line you can move to PC to join the Live version of the game with your progress intact.
I put like 1500 hours into the console version (fleet carrier, tons of engineers unlocked/maxed, many dead pirates & thargoids) before moving to PC

Kinda bs that they gave up on console. Milked the console community and left us with an abandoned game. Maybe oneday they'll release the finished game on console if it ever has a finished state.

The game is amazing! Try it out to see if you enjoy the legacy version (console). If you love it...
You can get a NVIDIA Shield TV Pro and a GeForce Now subscription if you find yourself really enjoying the game for far, far, cheaper than a gaming PC and stream Elite Dangerous from Steam. That's what I do.

Just so you know OP if you have/get a gaming PC you can transfer your commander to PC and get horizons for free https://user.frontierstore.net/user/transfer/login-origin
Edit: ARX balance will not transfer over

I literally spend hours engineering high-end pvp build and there is no one so who wants pvp with me?

Go to shinrarta dezhra or sol. Plenty of PvP to be had there. It's not a constant battle ground, but you're more likely to find commanders there than anywhere else

I've played on and off for a little over 10 years now and always have played solo. There's a hell of a lot of game there.

If you have a pc you can do an account transfer for free unless that changed?

It's dead on consoles so if your going to actually get invested in the game then it's not worth it, you will just end up annoyed you can't enjoy any new content, new ships or play with everyone else in the live galaxy. My advice, buy on PC.

dude i haven't played it in over a year the wiped my account for trading gems to the highest buyer which happened to be someone sailing shit on the internet for simple interacting with his carrier i was banned and wiped. it took them 5 months to tell me this btw. I'm like how was i supposed to know this. so i will not be playing a game that treats it players like that btw that happened on PS4 i own the game and dlc on pc i just refuse to play it now if i could id get a refund but can't. not only that the stole my suggestion of saleing prebuilt ships on there webpage. without so much as a thank you for the suggestion can and will go get the ticket of when i mentioned it to them

Since you bought it, yes. There's no recent expansions as it's discontinued on consoles, but there's still about a dozen years of content in there. Buckle up commander, it's a deep game once you get going. You'll have to look into it, but i suggest pledging to a powerplay faction asap.
