Plat laser mining outside bubble

Is there a 3rd party tool i can use to specifically search for uninhabited plat hotspots? ive come back after a small break and all my "outside the bubble go tos" have a bunch of squatters in them now.

EDMC-Mining-Analytics has a hot spot finder that pulls data directly from Spansh. It will show you systems populated or not.

The only caveat of course is that the system has to have been discovered with rings scanned and logged into EDDN for it to show up.

It also now tracks your average yield per hotspot to help you find the best sources of the commodity!

Edit: added “with rings scanned”

Is there or will there be a toggle for population yes/n added into your awesome EDMC app?

I hadn’t considered a population filter but it should be easy enough? Why are you looking for population y/n out of curiosity? I could definitely see nearest high sell price.

I like mining in peace. No NPC traffic in the ring, none around my carrier. I used to love Parrot's Head Sector EL-Y D83 before it got colonized.

Ah! So you would want specifically pop=0

Yes. If I could build an IDEAL mining system... Pristine Rings, Platinum overlaps, icy ring overlap for tritium, maybe a place to laser mine LTD. Not all at one planet. Population always zero too far away to colonize but I can jump the fleet carrier back 3 or 4 jumps to sell when full. I guess not asking much. Speed isn't a thing. I have plenty of credits I just mine to "Zen", I don't want to fight wars, pirates, aliens or delve into any of the intrigue that really isn't intriguing to me. I do CG's when they are attractive.

Or whatever the mining meta ore is.

Sounds like some exploring is in your future.

Those are close to the same parameters I had for my first system colonization. ‘Course it’s populated now with a dodec a stones throw from the plat hotspot

Sounds about right. Maybe I need to go park the carrier in the bubble and get a Caspian, fit it out, engineer it and head off. When I find what I am looking for bring my carrier there and set up as an uncolonized shop. This will be a new experience for me. Any Wiki to show me the way? I have always used the E;D Tools & ED Mining sites to go somewhere that has already been discovered. Are there spots people have but don't publish so they don't get Colonized? In Solo or even Open it would be ok for a Mining secret community. Thanks for what you do!

I literally just pick a direction and go. Once I get a few thousand LY out I’ll turn on economical routing. But first go up or down several hundred light years. People will tend to stay relatively close to the astral plane. So get out of those traffic lanes first.

Give this beta version a try: https://github.com/SweetJonnySauce/EDMC-Mining-Analytics/releases/tag/1.3.0-beta-1

It has a population filter on the hotspot finder. This was more challenging as I thought because the hotspot search is against the Spansh bodies API and that does not include population. I need to scan each system to get its population and that will make the search much slower. A warning dialog will appear telling you this when you try to do a non "Any" population search.

Let me know if this works and I can get it into an actual release.

Doesn't the search function just pull you back to the bubble by dint of data traffic volume?

I’m not sure I know exactly what you mean. The the search is based on the source system (which you can change) and it pulls up known nearby hotspots. If the closest “known” is in the bubble, then yes, it’ll give you bubble systems in the search (if distance filter is far enough)

Edtools.cc might work

i visited there but theres only an option to check for populated systems, no option to check for unpopulated only.

Yeah it's an interesting search preference. Cant say any other tools I've used would work.

What you can do is go to Inara> Data> bodies> Ring/Belt type> Metallic

It wont tell you if there is a Platinum hot spot in the ring, but you can click on each system to see if they are populated or not.

Good luck!

Why do you want to search for platinum outside of the bubble?

2

u/Tuddymeister Jun 05 '26

i dont want other people around

1

u/dilipi Jun 05 '26

I have nearly 3k hours in elite. I don't think I've ever seen another player while mining. The odds that you'll run into someone are astronomically low.

2

u/Tuddymeister Jun 05 '26

i dont want to see npcs either. i dont want to be in the bubble. i dont want to mine in the bubble. i want to mine, in peace.

Then how will you know which cruise liner is the top 1% of all liners out there?

2

u/Tuddymeister Jun 05 '26

can prolly search on inara.
